Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales is backing a new initiative to encourage more people to get back on buses.
The new one purchase ticket, which is valid across the region, enables travellers to ride all day on buses.
Mr Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales said:
I am delighted to support this initiative and pleased to see local authorities working together with bus operators. Less people have been travelling on buses as a result of the pandemic and we should be doing everything we can to encourage more people to use this form of transport once more.
Not only is it a great way to explore the North Wales Coast and other areas, without having to worry about parking your car but it is an excellent way of protecting the environment.
The very reasonably priced ticket which is only £12 for a family for the day, is also available to visitors and I can’t think of a better way to see our beautiful coast and countryside.
The one purchase ticket costs £5.70 for an adult, £3.70 for a child and holders of English and Scottish concessionary bus passes will pay £3.70.
One ticket is valid all day on busses in Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey and Wrexham and on buses from North Wales to Chester, Whitchurch and Machynlleth.
Cllr Brian Jones, Denbighshire County Council’s Lead Member for Waste, Transport and the Environment, said: “This ticket is a great example of the strong partnership that exists between bus operators and local authorities. It has been possible to introduce this ticket because public and private sector, bus operators large and small, have all worked together.”
Timetable information for all buses in North Wales is available online at http://bustimes.org or www.traveline.cymru; or by phone on 0800 464 00 00.
1Bws is valid on all local bus services operating in North Wales except number 28 between Mold and Flint. It is also not valid on tourist services operated by open top buses, on National Express coach services and park and ride services.
