Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales is urging people to have their say on the provision of motorhome stopover sites in his region.
Conwy County Borough Council has launched a consultation and Sam Rowlands, Welsh Conservative and Shadow Minister for Local Government is urging local residents and visitors to take part.
Mr Rowlands said:
As I have said many times, it is vitally important that the views of local people are taken into consideration before any decisions are made which affect them and their communities.
As a major supporter for tourism in North Wales and chair of the Cross Party Group on Tourism in the Senedd, I back any moves which will encourage more visitors to my region.
Over the last couple of years there has been a huge increase in the number of people using motorhomes and it is vital we make them feel welcome in North Wales and provide them with suitable parking and sleeping facilities.
I welcome this consultation which is being funded by the UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund as part of its Levelling Up Agenda. The project was originally initiated and the funding secured during the last Conservative/Independent Conwy council administration.
Earlier this year I was delighted to see Gwynedd County Council securing funding to run a trial for six sites across the county to provide appropriate over-night provision for motorhomes and campervans with their own on board facilities. I am now urging local residents and visitors to take part in the survey.
The visitor economy is exceptionally important to Conwy County Borough Council’s local economy and they want to welcome as many people as sustainably possible, to enjoy the places residents are fortunate to call home, and to do so respectfully.
The council is now undertaking a consultation to better understand motorhome and campervan use in the county, the type of facilities that are valued and how their provision may be improved to benefit the economy, tourism offer and local communities.
The consultation aims to gather views from residents who live in Conwy County and from motorhome and campervan visitors to the area.

Sam Rowlands AS yn cefnogi ymgynghoriad ar ddefnyddwyr cartrefi modur a faniau gwersylla yng Nghonwy
Mae Sam Rowlands, AS dros Ogledd Cymru, yn annog pobl i fynegi eu barn ar ddarpariaeth safleoedd aros i gartrefi modur yn ei ranbarth.
Mae Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy wedi lansio ymgynghoriad ac mae Sam Rowlands, aelod o’r Ceidwadwyr Cymreig a Gweinidog yr Wrthblaid dros Lywodraeth Leol ar ran y Ceidwadwyr yn annog trigolion lleol ac ymwelwyr i gymryd rhan.
Meddai Mr Rowlands:
Fel rwyf wedi’i ddweud lawer o weithiau, mae’n hollbwysig bod barn pobl leol yn cael ei ystyried cyn gwneud unrhyw benderfyniadau sy’n effeithio arnyn nhw a’u cymunedau.
Fel cefnogwr brwd i dwristiaeth yn y Gogledd a chadeirydd y Grŵp Trawsbleidiol ar Dwristiaeth yn y Senedd, rwy’n cefnogi unrhyw newidiadau a fydd yn annog mwy o ymwelwyr i’m rhanbarth.
Dros y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf mae yna gynnydd mawr wedi bod yn nifer y bobl sy’n defnyddio cartrefi modur ac mae’n hanfodol ein bod yn eu croesawu i’r Gogledd ac yn darparu cyfleusterau parcio a chysgu addas iddynt.
Rwy’n croesawu’r ymgynghoriad hwn sy’n cael ei ariannu gan Gronfa Adfywio Cymunedol Llywodraeth y DU fel rhan o’i Hagenda Ffyniant Bro. Dechreuodd y prosiect ac fe sicrhawyd cyllid iddo yn ystod gweinyddiaeth flaenorol y Ceidwadwyr/Annibynwyr ar Gyngor Conwy.
Yn gynharach eleni, ro’n i’n falch o weld Cyngor Gwynedd yn sicrhau cyllid i gynnal treial ar gyfer chwe safle ar draws y sir i ddarparu darpariaeth dros nos ar gyfer cartrefi modur a faniau gwersylla gyda’u cyfleusterau eu hunain. Rwyf nawr yn annog trigolion lleol ac ymwelwyr i gymryd rhan yn yr arolwg.
Mae’r economi ymwelwyr yn eithriadol o bwysig i economi leol Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy ac mae’r Cyngor am groesawu cymaint o bobl ag sy’n bosibl yn gynaliadwy, er mwyn iddynt gael mwynhau’r llefydd y mae’r trigolion yn ddigon ffodus o’u galw’n gartref, a gwneud hynny gyda pharch.
Mae’r cyngor nawr yn cynnal ymgynghoriad i ddeall defnydd o gartrefi modur a faniau gwersylla yn y sir yn well, y math o gyfleusterau maen nhw’n eu gwerthfawrogi a sut y gellid gwella eu darpariaeth er mwyn bod o fudd i’r economi, y cynnig twristiaeth a chymunedau lleol.
Mae’r ymgynghoriad yn awyddus i gasglu barn trigolion sy’n byw yn Sir Conwy a chan ymwelwyr sy’n dod i’r ardal mewn cartrefi modur a faniau gwersylla.
I gwblhau’r arolwg, ewch i https://bit.ly/3Avyov4
