Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is urging constituents to volunteer themselves and their pets to become part of a therapy dog team in the area.
He said:
We all know the benefits that interacting with animals can bring and I am delighted to support a recruitment drive to create more dog therapy teams in my region.
I am sure there must be many people out there who own good natured dogs who engage well with everyone and have time on their hands to help Welsh therapy dog organisation, Cariad Pet Therapy.
If you think your pet fits the bill then why not attend a weekend of therapy dog assessments being held in Wrexham early next month.
Cariad Pet Therapy is a registered not-for-profit Community Interest Company established in September 2018, and is currently recruiting for therapy dog teams.
The organisation facilitates the magic connection of the human-animal bond by bringing together compassionate owners and their affiliative natured dogs with members of their local community.
This connection enables a feeling of calmness, joy, comfort, and a sense of collectiveness which can be impactful on wellbeing and long lasting.
Volunteers are central to the organisation, who highly value their time, experience, and dedication to improving the lives of others whilst advocating for their dog’s welfare.
The therapy dogs will visit hospital wards, care homes and schools as well as to employers for wellbeing visits.
Cariad Pet Therapy is holding a weekend of therapy dog assessments in Wrexham on Friday and Saturday, February 3 and 4 at Pentre Gwyn Community Centre, on Abenbury Road.
To find out how to apply go to www.cariadpettherapy.co.uk and complete the expression of interest form on the volunteer page.
You can also ring their head office on 01437 723628 and speak to one of the team for more details.

Mae'r sefydliad yn hwyluso'r cysylltiad arbennig rhwng pobl ag anifeiliaid drwy ddod â pherchnogion tosturiol a'u cŵn o natur debyg ynghyd ag aelodau o'u cymuned leol.
Mae'r cysylltiad hwn yn galluogi teimlad o dawelwch, cysur, llawenydd a chydweithrediad a allai effeithio ar les hirhoedlog.
Mae gwirfoddolwyr yn ganolog i'r sefydliad, sy'n gwerthfawrogi eu hamser, eu profiad, a'u hymroddiad i wella bywydau eraill wrth ofalu am les eu ci.
Bydd y cŵn therapi yn ymweld â wardiau ysbyty, cartrefi gofal ac ysgolion yn ogystal â chyflogwyr ar gyfer ymweliadau lles.
Mae Cariad Pet Therapy yn cynnal penwythnos o asesiadau cŵn therapi yn Wrecsam ddydd Gwener a dydd Sadwrn, Chwefror 3 a 4 yng Nghanolfan Gymunedol Pentre Gwyn, ar Ffordd Abenbury.
