Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales is urging local producers to take part in the Great Taste Awards 2022.
Entries for the annual contest are now open to non-members of the Guild of Fine Food until February 14, or earlier if the entry cap is reached.
Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of buying local produce said:
We all know that food and drink from my region is held in the highest regard all over the world for its superlative quality and excellent taste. Our food and drink businesses make a vital contribution to the Welsh economy and I support any initiatives and encourage local producers to enter this prestigious competition.
Great Taste stars are highly respected seals of approval and many businesses from North Wales continue to be awarded these accolades. Last year Happy Hedgehog Foods from Wrexham, received 3-stars for their strawberry balsamic vinegar and Dolwen Lamb and Beef from Llanarmon DC near Llangollen, won the top award for their organic Welsh lamb shoulder.
Other success stories in my region were Heartland Coffee Roasters from Llandudno, who were awarded two 1-star awards, as was Edwards of Conwy and Aber Falls Distillery, Llanfairfechan, received 1-star.
Great Taste is the largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme and supports and promotes producers, large and small. It gives buyers and food lovers in the UK and overseas reliable recommendations for great tasting food.
It is recognised as a reliable stamp of excellence among consumers, retailers and major food buyers alike and attracts entries from all over the world including China, Russia and USA.
