Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, was commenting after the Worldskills International Competition for Manufacturing was recently held at the college’s Bersham Road campus in Wrexham.
He said:
I was delighted to see North Wales being chosen for such a major important and innovative event which attracted entries from across the world.
It really is great for Coleg Cambria to be recognised for its contribution to developing advanced manufacturing and mechanical engineering skills in my region.
I was also pleased to see a former student from the college, Charlie Samson, who was part of the UK team. Congratulations must go to everyone who took part and made the competition a great success.
The Manufacturing Team Challenge was held at Coleg Cambria, Wrexham, with teams from UK, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Korea and France taking part.
Apprentices from around the world were asked to design and build a unique innovative radio-controlled crane, within a maximum of 22 working hours.
Also attending were representatives from Airbus, QiOptic, Welsh Government and other employers and organisations.

Roedd Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, yn rhoi sylwadau ar ôl cynnal Cystadleuaeth Ryngwladol ar gyfer Gweithgynhyrchu WorldSkills ar gampws Heol Bersham y coleg yn Wrecsam.
Meddai:
Roeddwn i’n falch iawn o weld y Gogledd yn cael ei ddewis ar gyfer digwyddiad mor bwysig ac arloesol a ddenodd ymgeiswyr o bedwar ban byd.
Mae’n wirioneddol wych gweld Coleg Cambria yn cael ei gydnabod am ei gyfraniad tuag at ddatblygu gweithgynhyrchu uwch a sgiliau peirianneg mecanyddol yn fy rhanbarth.
Roeddwn hefyd yn falch o weld cyn-fyfyriwr o’r coleg, Charlie Samson, a oedd yn rhan o dîm y DU. Llongyfarchiadau i bawb a gymerodd ran a sicrhau bod y gystadleuaeth yn gymaint o lwyddiant.
Cynhaliwyd yr Her Tîm Gweithgynhyrchu yng Ngholeg Cambria, Wrecsam, gyda thimau o’r DU, Japan, Taipei Tsieineaidd, Korea a Ffrainc yn cymryd rhan.
Gofynnwyd i brentisiaid o bedwar ban byd ddylunio ac adeiladu craen arloesol unigryw i’w reoli gyda radio, o fewn uchafswm o 22 awr waith.
Roedd cynrychiolwyr o Airbus, QiOptic, Llywodraeth Cymru a chyflogwyr a sefydliadau eraill hefyd yn bresennol.
