Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, urges volunteers to support a tree planting day in Wrexham, this weekend.
Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of supporting access to our natural environment, is backing an initiative to encourage more people to help plant trees in the county.
He said:
I am delighted to promote Wrexham County Borough Council’s latest tree planting project and urge local people to get involved.
I think it is vitally important we continue to improve our green spaces for everyone and as most people are aware, planting more trees not only increases biodiversity but also helps to create a better habitat for our plants and creatures who live there.
If you have any spare time this Sunday, March 10 then head to Pendine Way, in Gwersyllt between 10-4pm and help to plant trees for a fruit orchard.
A lot more effort goes into ground preparation when planting large trees instead of whips so as much help as possible is needed to get them in the ground. Staking, guarding and putting a mulch ring around each tree will also be carried out so they are well protected and receive the best start in their new home.
The planting days are possible thanks to funding from Trees for Cities which has been granted to plant over 60 large trees throughout the County.
Trees for Cities are a UK charity working at a national and international scale to improve lives by planting trees in cities which areas helps revitalise forgotten spaces; creating healthier environments for people and wildlife.
Please come wearing warm clothes and wellies or sturdy boots. Gloves are also recommended.
Sam Rowlands AS yn annog trigolion i helpu i blannu coed mawr
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o Senedd Cymru dros Ogledd Cymru, yn annog gwirfoddolwyr i gefnogi diwrnod o blannu coed yn Wrecsam y penwythnos hwn.
Mae Mr Rowlands, sy’n gefnogwr brwd o sicrhau mynediad i’n hamgylchedd naturiol, yn cefnogi menter i annog mwy o bobl i helpu i blannu coed yn y sir.
Dywedodd:
Rwy’n falch o hyrwyddo prosiect plannu coed diweddaraf Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Wrecsam ac yn annog pobl leol i gymryd rhan.
Rwy’n meddwl ei bod hi’n hollbwysig ein bod ni’n parhau i wella’n mannau gwyrdd i bawb ac fel mae’r rhan fwyaf o bobl yn gwybod, mae plannu coed nid yn unig yn cynyddu bioamrywiaeth, ond hefyd yn helpu i greu cynefin gwell i’n planhigion a chreaduriaid sy’n byw yno.
Os oes gennych chi amser rhydd ddydd Sul nesaf, 10 Mawrth ewch draw i Pendine Way, Gwersyllt rhwng 10 a 4pm i helpu i blannu coed ar gyfer perllan ffrwythau.
Mae angen llawer mwy o ymdrech i baratoi’r tir ar gyfer plannu coed mawr yn hytrach na choed ifanc heb ganghennau, felly mae angen cymaint o gymorth â phosibl i’w cael i’r ddaear. Bydd pyst, gard a thomwellt yn cael eu gosod o amgylch pob coeden fel eu bod yn cael eu diogelu’n dda ac yn cael y dechrau gorau yn eu cartref newydd.
Mae’r dyddiau plannu’n bosibl diolch i arian gan Trees for Cities sydd wedi’i roi i blannu dros 60 coeden fawr ledled sir.
Elusen yn y DU yw Trees for Cities sy’n gweithio ar lefel genedlaethol a rhyngwladol i wella bywydau drwy blannu coed mewn dinasoedd sy’n helpu i adfywio mannau sydd wedi cael eu hesgeuluso; gan greu amgylcheddau iachach i bobl a bywyd gwyllt.
Cofiwch wisgo dillad cynnes ag esgidiau glaw neu fŵts cadarn am eich traed. Byddai’n syniad da gwisgo menig hefyd.
