Sam Rowlands MS was delighted to support a showcase event to raise awareness of the day to day issues for disabled people in his region.
Mr Rowlands, a Conservative Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, met with disabled people from across Wrexham and Flintshire recently for a celebratory ‘My Voice, My Choice’ event, run by leading disability charity Leonard Cheshire.
He said:
I was delighted to attend the event held in the Oliver Jones Memorial Hall in Dolywern and take part in a question and answer session.
It was good to hear at first-hand about the many issues disabled people face every day and I would like to congratulate the participants of Leonard Cheshire’s ‘My Voice, My Choice’ Wrexham project on completing their campaigning and advocacy workshops.
It was an absolute pleasure to attend their celebration event and I am keen to keep in touch with the charity and will do everything I can to help by raising issues in the Senedd.
The showcase came as part of the National Lottery Community Fund ‘My Voice, My Choice’ project, which has also seen Leonard Cheshire run a series of successful workshops across Wales including Wrexham and Flintshire.
Leonard Cheshire Director for Policy Gemma Hope said “Disabled people’s voices so often go unheard what the ‘My Voice, My Choice’ programme does is enable groups of disabled people to drive community change, by providing them with campaigning and advocacy skills. It’s wonderful to work with the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver this project across Wales and look forward to continuing to do so in 10 more locations over the next 2 years”
The next step for Wrexham and Flintshire is for Leonard Cheshire to help set up a citizen panel, which will campaign on the important topics raised throughout the ‘My Voice, My Choice’ programme.
An information session giving more information on the Citizen Panel and how you can get involved will be held October 20, 2022, from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Roedd Sam Rowlands AS yn falch iawn o gael cefnogi digwyddiad arddangos i godi ymwybyddiaeth o’r problemau dydd i ddydd sy’n wynebu pobl anabl yn ei ranbarth.
Cafodd Mr Rowlands, Aelod Ceidwadol o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, gyfarfod â phobl anabl ledled Wrecsam a Sir y Fflint yn ddiweddar mewn digwyddiad i ddathlu ‘Fy Llais, Fy Newis’, a gynhaliwyd gan yr elusen anabledd flaenllaw, Leonard Cheshire.
Meddai:
Roeddwn i’n falch iawn o gael mynychu’r digwyddiad a gynhaliwyd yn Neuadd Goffa Oliver Jones yn Nolywern a chymryd rhan mewn sesiwn holi ac ateb.
Braf oedd clywed o lygad y ffynnon am y problemau sy’n wynebu llawer o bobl anabl bob diwrnod a hoffwn longyfarch cyfranogwyr prosiect Wrecsam ‘Fy Llais, Fy Newid’ Leonard Cheshire ar gwblhau eu gweithdai ymgyrchu a hyrwyddo.
Roedd yn bleser llwyr mynychu eu digwyddiad dathlu ac rwy’n awyddus iawn i gadw mewn cysylltiad â’r elusen a byddaf yn gwneud popeth o fewn fy ngallu i helpu drwy godi’r materion hyn yn y Senedd.
Roedd y digwyddiad yn rhan o brosiect ‘Fy Llais, Fy Newis’ Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol, sydd hefyd wedi gweld Leonard Cheshire yn cynnal cyfres o weithdai llwyddiannus ledled Cymru, gan gynnwys yn Wrecsam a Sir y Fflint.
Meddai Gemma Hope, Cyfarwyddwr Polisi Leonard Cheshire, “Dydy pobl ddim yn gwrando ar bobl anabl yn aml ac mae’r rhaglen ‘Fy Llais, Fy Newis’ yn galluogi grwpiau o bobl anabl i sbarduno newid cymunedol, trwy ddysgu sgiliau ymgyrchu a hyrwyddo iddyn nhw. Mae’n braf iawn gweithio gyda Chronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol i gyflwyno’r prosiect hwn ledled Cymru ac rwy’n edrych ymlaen at barhau i wneud hynny mewn 10 lleoliad arall dros y 2 flynedd nesaf.”
Y cam nesaf i Wrecsam a Sir y Fflint yw i Leonard Cheshire helpu i sefydlu panel dinasyddion a fydd yn ymgyrchu dros y pynciau pwysig a godir gydol y rhaglen ‘Fy Llais, Fy Newis’.
