Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, calls on constituents to have their say on whether every home should have a carbon monoxide alarm.
Welsh Government is currently holding a consultation and asking the public whether they need to amend the current guidelines.
Mr Rowlands said:
At the moment a working carbon monoxide alarm must be present in any room which has a gas, oil or solid fuel-burning appliance but Welsh Government want them to be fitted in all households.
Carbon monoxide is a gas that is produced when fuel like gas, oil and coal are burned and is present when we are cooking or using fireplaces at home.
It is difficult to detect as there is no smell, colour or taste but carbon monoxide alarms can warn people when it is in their home.
I would urge anyone who has a view on this consultation to have their say before the deadline at the end of this month.
Welsh Government is proposing to amend the current statutory guidance so that carbon monoxide alarms are fitted alongside the installation of flued fixed combustion appliance of any fuel type in all residential dwellings.
They are now asking the public what they think about making it a law that every home would need a carbon monoxide alarm. The consultation, which began in February, ends on April 28 2023.

Sam Rowlands AS yn tynnu sylw at ymgynghoriad ar larymau carbon monocsid
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o'r Senedd dros Ranbarth y gogledd, yn galw ar etholwyr i ddweud eu dweud ynghylch a ddylai pob cartref gael larwm carbon monocsid.
Ar hyn o bryd, mae Llywodraeth Cymru yn cynnal ymgynghoriad ac yn gofyn i'r cyhoedd a oes angen diwygio'r canllawiau presennol.
Dywedodd Mr Rowlands:
Ar hyn o bryd rhaid i larwm carbon monocsid sy’n gweithio fod yn bresennol mewn unrhyw ystafell sydd ag offer nwy neu olew neu offer sy’n llosgi tanwydd solet ond mae Llywodraeth Cymru am iddynt gael eu gosod ym mhob cartref.
Nwy sy'n cael ei gynhyrchu pan mae tanwydd fel nwy, olew a glo yn cael ei losgi yw carbon monocsid, ac mae'n bresennol pan fyddwn ni'n coginio neu'n defnyddio llefydd tân gartref.
Mae'n anodd ei ganfod gan nad oes arogl, lliw na blas arno, ond mae larymau carbon monocsid yn gallu rhybuddio pobl pan mae'r nwy yn eu cartref nhw.
Byddwn yn annog unrhyw un sydd â barn ar yr ymgynghoriad hwn i ddweud eu dweud cyn y dyddiad cau ddiwedd y mis hwn.
Mae Llywodraeth Cymru yn bwriadu diwygio'r canllawiau statudol presennol fel bod larymau carbon monocsid yn cael eu gosod ar yr un pryd ag unrhyw offer hylosgi sefydlog â ffliw sy’n defnyddio unrhyw fath o danwydd ym mhob annedd breswyl.
Mae’r Llywodraeth yn gofyn i'r cyhoedd am eu barn ynghylch ei wneud yn gyfraith i bob cartref gael larwm carbon monocsid. Dechreuodd yr ymgynghoriad ym mis Chwefror ac mae’n dod i ben ar 28 Ebrill 2023.
