Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is delighted to hear that three beaches in his region have picked up prestigious awards.
Prestatyn Central has received the Blue Flag Award, Rhyl seafront has been given a Seaside Award and Silver Bay, Rhoscolyn on Anglesey a Green Coast Award in the Wales Coast Awards 2024.
Mr Rowlands, Chair of the Cross Party Group on Tourism in the Senedd said:
It is very pleasing to see three areas in North Wales being highlighted in such a way and congratulations must go to the local authorities who have worked hard to ensure their beaches are the best.
It is also a great incentive for other areas to follow suit and of course a good way to promote North Wales and its stunning beaches.
Not only do we have award winning beaches but we also have beautiful countryside and mountains and lots of popular attractions to encourage even more visitors to lovely North Wales.
The Wales Coast Award winners for 2024 spotlights the 49 coastal sites achieving the high standards required to receive a prestigious Blue Flag, Green Coast or Seaside Award.
Blue Flag is managed internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education, FEE and is one of the world’s most recognised awards for beaches, marinas and boats. The programme’s mission is to promote environmental education, sustainable development of tourism, environmental management systems and ensure safety and access for beach users.
The 24 Welsh beaches achieving this accolade must adhere to specific criteria related not only to water quality, but also information provision, environmental education, safety, and site management in equal measure.
Alongside the 24 Blue Flag Awards, 13 beaches in Wales were awarded the Green Coast Award which recognises their clean environment, excellent water quality and natural beauty.
In addition, a total of 12 beaches, including Aberporth and Rhyl Central, also achieved the Seaside Award for the standard of their facilities and water quality.
Owen Derbyshire, Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive said:
We're delighted to see another successful year of Coast Awards here in Wales, with 49 stunning locations recognised among the world's best. Achieving these prestigious awards means meeting rigorous standards put in place to ensure the safe enjoyment of visitors now and in years to come. This success is testament to the hard work of all involved in maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty of our Welsh coastline.
Sam Rowlands AS yn falch o weld traethau yn y Gogledd yn derbyn cydnabyddiaeth genedlaethol
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros y Gogledd, yn falch iawn o glywed bod tri thraeth yn ei ranbarth wedi ennill gwobrau o fri.
Mae Canol Prestatyn wedi derbyn Gwobr y Faner Las, mae glan môr y Rhyl wedi derbyn Gwobr Glan y Môr a Bae Arian, a Rhoscolyn ar Ynys Môn wedi derbyn Gwobr Arfordir Gwyrdd yng Ngwobrau Arfordir Cymru 2024.
Meddai Mr Rowlands, Cadeirydd y Grŵp Trawsbleidiol ar Dwristiaeth yn y Senedd:
Mae’n braf iawn gweld tair ardal yn y Gogledd yn cael sylw yn y fath fodd a rhaid llongyfarch yr awdurdodau lleol sydd wedi gweithio’n galed i sicrhau mai eu traethau nhw yw’r goreuon.
Mae’n gymhelliant gwych hefyd i ardaloedd eraill ddilyn eu hesiampl ac wrth gwrs yn ffordd dda o hyrwyddo Gogledd Cymru a’i thraethau trawiadol.
Yn ogystal â thraethau arobryn, mae gennym ni gefn gwlad godidog a mynyddoedd hardd hefyd a llu o atyniadau poblogaidd i annog hyd yn oed mwy o ymwelwyr i ogledd hardd Cymru.
Mae enillwyr Gwobrau Arfordir Cymru 2024 yn tynnu sylw at y 49 safle arfordirol sy’n cyrraedd y safonau uchel sy’n ofynnol i dderbyn Gwobr Baner Las, Arfordir Gwyrdd neu Glan y Môr.
Rheolir y Faner Las yn rhyngwladol gan y Sefydliad dros Addysg Amgylcheddol ac mae’n un o wobrau mwyaf adnabyddus y byd am draethau, marinas a chychod. Cenhadaeth y rhaglen yw hyrwyddo addysg amgylcheddol, datblygu twristiaeth yn gynaliadwy, systemau rheoli amgylcheddol a sicrhau diogelwch a mynediad i ddefnyddwyr traethau.
Rhaid i’r 24 o draethau yng Nghymru sy’n ennill yr anrhydedd hon gadw at feini prawf penodol sy’n gysylltiedig nid yn unig ag ansawdd dŵr, ond hefyd darparu gwybodaeth, addysg amgylcheddol, diogelwch a rheoli safleoedd oll i’r un graddau.
Ynghyd â’r 24 o Wobrau Baner Las, dyfarnwyd Gwobr Arfordir Gwyrdd i 13 o draethau yng Nghymru sy’n cydnabod eu hamgylchedd glân, ansawdd dŵr rhagorol a harddwch naturiol.
Hefyd, enillodd cyfanswm o 12 traeth, gan gynnwys Aberporth a Chanol y Rhyl, Wobr Glan y Môr am safon eu cyfleusterau ac ansawdd dŵr.
Meddai Owen Derbyshire, Prif Weithredwr Cadwch Gymru’n Daclus:
Rydyn ni’n falch tu hwnt o weld blwyddyn lwyddiannus arall o Wobrau’r Arfordir yma yng Nghymru, gyda 49 o leoliadau trawiadol yn cael eu cydnabod ymhlith goreuon y byd. Mae ennill y gwobrau mawreddog hyn yn golygu bodloni safonau trylwyr a gyflwynwyd i sicrhau mwynhad diogel i ymwelwyr nawr ac mewn blynyddoedd i ddod. Mae’r llwyddiant hwn yn tystio i waith caled pawb sy’n ymwneud â chynnal a gwella harddwch naturiol ein harfordir yng Nghymru.
