Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is backing a new free half day course for people wanting to help those struggling with mental health.
He said:
I am delighted the North Wales health board is the first in Wales to offer free mental health and suicide awareness training.
It is a great idea, as these days, more than ever, there is a great need to help those struggling with mental health difficulties and the right sort of training is vital.
Well done to the mental health professionals for developing the course and I would urge anyone interested in attending the course to get in touch with the health board.
The health board is encouraging people across North Wales to sign up for the iCAN Mental Health and Suicide Awareness Training, which is widely available and free of charge.
The half-day training course provides an overview of common mental health problems as well as best practice guidance on how to listen, give helpful advice, and look after your own mental health and wellbeing.
It is being delivered by Pwllheli based charity, Felin Fach, which is one of a number of third sector organisations commissioned to deliver iCAN Hubs across the region, which can be accessed on a drop in basis.
