Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales has welcomed news that more money is being made available for improvements to tourism locations in his region.
He said:
I am delighted to see that projects in North Wales are to receive extra funding to enable them to improve their facilities and make them more visitor friendly.
I am pleased to see Gwynedd County Council securing funding to provide provision for overnight stays in public car parks in six different areas.
Over the last couple of years there has been a huge increase in the number of people using motor homes and it is vital we make them feel welcome in North Wales and provide them with suitable parking and sleeping facilities.
The projects in North Wales are being funded by Welsh Government’s Brilliant Basics capital fund aimed at delivering small scale improvements to important tourism locations.
The fund is supporting local authorities and national parks to deliver the improvements which will benefit both communities and visitors, and support projects to help alleviate pressure in areas which are seeing more visitors.
Dafydd Williams, Head of Environment for Gwynedd Council welcomed the funding and said:
Gwynedd Council has undertaken significant research into motor homes in the county and has listened to the views of communities, motor home-owners and camp site operators in order to understand illegal or inappropriate overnight stays within the county.
Through the Brilliant Basics funded project we will pilot a network of up to six ‘Aros-fan’ sites across Gwynedd which will provide appropriate over-night provision for motor homes and campervans with their own on board facilities.
Sioned Williams, Head of Economy and Community for Gwynedd Council, said:
In order to support the local economy, all six sites will be located within walking distance to key towns and destinations, will have basic services and will operate a strict 48 hour maximum stay.
Sam Rowlands AS yn falch o weld cyllid ychwanegol ar gyfer prosiect yng Ngwynedd
Mae Sam Rowlands, yr AS dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi croesawu newyddion y bydd rhagor o arian ar gael ar gyfer gwelliannau i leoliadau twristiaeth yn ei ranbarth.
Meddai:
Rwy’n falch dros ben y bydd prosiectau yn y Gogledd yn derbyn cyllid ychwanegol i’w galluogi i wella’u cyfleusterau a’u gwneud yn fwy addas i ymwelwyr.
Rwy’n falch gweld Cyngor Sir Gwynedd yn sicrhau cyllid i sicrhau darpariaeth aros dros nos mewn meysydd parcio cyhoeddus mewn chwe ardal wahanol.
Yn ystod y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf mae cynnydd enfawr wedi bod yn nifer y bobl sy’n defnyddio cartrefi modur ac mae’n hanfodol ein bod yn gwneud iddynt deimlo bod croeso iddynt yn y Gogledd a’n bod yn darparu cyfleusterau parcio a chysgu addas iddynt.
Mae’r prosiectau yn y Gogledd yn cael eu cyllido gan gronfa gyfalaf Pethau Pwysig Llywodraeth Cymru sydd â’r nod o sicrhau gwelliannau bach i leoliadau twristiaeth pwysig.
Mae’r gronfa yn cefnogi awdurdodau lleol a pharciau cenedlaethol i sicrhau gwelliannau a fydd o fudd i gymunedau ac ymwelwyr, a chefnogi prosiectau i helpu i liniaru pwysau mewn ardaloedd sy’n gweld rhagor o ymwelwyr.
Croesawyd y cyllid gan Dafydd Williams, Pennaeth yr Amgylchedd Cyngor Gwynedd, a dywedodd:
Mae Cyngor Gwynedd wedi cynnal gwaith ymchwil pwysig i gartrefi modur yn y sir ac mae wedi gwrando ar safbwyntiau cymunedau, perchnogion cartrefi modur a gweithredwyr meysydd gwersylla er mwyn deall arosiadau dros nos anghyfreithlon ac amhriodol yn y sir.
Trwy’r prosiect a gyllidir gan Pethau Pwysig, byddwn yn treialu rhwydwaith o hyd at chwe safle ‘Aros-fan’ ledled Gwynedd a fydd yn cynnig darpariaeth dros nos briodol i gartrefi modur a champerfaniau gyda’u cyfleusterau eu hunain.
Meddai Sioned Williams, Pennaeth yr Economi a Chymuned Cyngor Gwynedd:
Er mwyn cefnogi’r economi leol, bydd y chwe safle wedi’u lleoli o fewn cyrraedd ar droed i drefi a chyrchfannau allweddol, bydd ganddynt wasanaethau sylfaenol a bydd ganddynt uchafswm aros cyfyngedig o 48 awr.
