Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales has helped Macmillan Cancer Support promote a major fundraising event.
Mr Rowlands, Welsh Conservative, joined the Wales team at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay to mark the charity’s annual coffee morning.
It’s the 32nd year of the Coffee Morning and Sam Rowlands enjoyed a cuppa and a slice of cake at the awareness event at the Oriel in the Senedd, as well as taking the opportunity to chat with Macmillan staff and volunteers.
Speaking about his support for the annual fundraising event, Sam Rowlands MS said:
We know that a cancer diagnosis can turn someone’s world upside down. One in two of us will face cancer, and the money raised by hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning will help people with cancer to live their life as fully as they can.
Macmillan, alongside our NHS and other partners, works tirelessly to do whatever it takes for people with cancer. The demands for Macmillan’s services and support is high, while its income is down.
I’m very proud to help support Macmillan’s coffee morning, and to help let people know that this important fundraising event. I would encourage anyone to get involved, and to sign up to organise a Coffee Morning or contribute to a local coffee morning in the way that suits them best.
Richard Pugh, Head of Services for Macmillan Cancer Support in Wales, said:
It’s fantastic to be able to meet our Members of the Senedd face-to-face again at the Senedd. We would like to offer Sam Rowlands MS our heartfelt thanks for his support for our event.
It’s no exaggeration to say Macmillan and people with cancer have never needed the public’s help more than we do right now. Cancer affects people’s whole lives – health, money, family job; everything.
More than 98% of Macmillan’s funding comes directly from donations, and thousands of people could miss out on vital care from our nurses, much needed financial support through Macmillan grants, or the ability to access trusted information and support in-person, online or at the end of the telephone without the public's continued support for our Coffee Morning fundraiser.
The money raises vital funds for Macmillan services to make sure people living with cancer can get the physical, emotional and financial support they need.
There is no single or right way to hold a coffee morning – it can be whatever you make it, and it can be held when suits you best. We really hope people will pull out all the stops to do just that.”
Macmillan’s Coffee Morning this year falls on Friday September30 but local events can be held throughout the year.

Sam Rowlands AS yn codi cwpan i gefnogi bore coffi Macmillan
Mae Sam Rowlands, yr AS dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi helpu Cymorth Canser Macmillan i hyrwyddo digwyddiad codi arian mawr.
Ymunodd Mr Rowlands, Ceidwadwr Cymreig, â thîm Cymru yn y Senedd ym Mae Caerdydd i ddathlu bore coffi blynyddol yr elusen.
Dyma 32ain blwyddyn y Bore Coffi ac fe gafodd Sam Rowlands flas ar ei deisen a’i baned yn y digwyddiad ymwybyddiaeth yn yr Oriel yn y Senedd, ynghyd â manteisio ar y cyfle i sgwrsio gyda staff a gwirfoddolwyr Macmillan.
Gan siarad am ei gefnogaeth i’r digwyddiad codi arian blynyddol, dywedodd Sam Rowlands AS:
Rydym yn gwybod y gall diagnosis canser droi bywyd rhywun ben i waered. Bydd un o bob dau ohonom yn wynebu canser, a bydd yr arian a godir drwy gynnal Bore Coffi Macmillan yn helpu pobl gyda chanser i fyw eu bywydau mor llawn â phosibl.
Mae Macmillan, law yn llaw â’r GIG a phartneriaid eraill, yn gweithio’n ddiflino i wneud beth bynnag sydd ei angen i bobl gyda chanser. Mae galw mawr am wasanaethau a chymorth Macmillan, tra bod incwm yr elusen ar i lawr.
Rwy’n falch iawn i allu helpu i gefnogi bore coffi Macmillan, ac i helpu i roi gwybod i bobl am y digwyddiad codi arian pwysig hwn. Byddwn yn annog unrhyw un i gymryd rhan, ac i gofrestru a threfnu Bore Coffi neu gyfrannu at fore coffi lleol yn y ffordd sydd fwyaf cyfleus iddyn nhw.
Meddai Richard Pugh, Pennaeth Gwasanaethau Cymorth Canser Macmillan yng Nghymru,
Mae’n wych gallu cyfarfod Aelodau o’r Senedd wyneb yn wyneb eto yn y Senedd. Hoffem ddiolch o galon i Sam Rowlands AS am gefnogi ein digwyddiad.
Ar hyn o bryd, nid gor-ddweud yw dweud bod Macmillan a phobl â chanser angen cymorth y cyhoedd yn fwy nag erioed o’r blaen. Mae canser yn effeithio ar bob agwedd ar fywydau pobl - iechyd, arian, swydd teulu, popeth.
Mae mwy na 98% o gyllid Macmillan yn dod yn syth o roddion, a gallai miloedd o bobl golli allan ar ofal hanfodol gan ein nyrsys, cymorth ariannol mawr ei angen drwy grantiau Macmillan, neu’r gallu i gael mynediad at wybodaeth y gellir ymddiried ynddi a chymorth wyneb yn wyneb, ar-lein neu dros y ffôn heb gefnogaeth barhaus y cyhoedd i’n Bore Coffi i godi arian.
Mae’r arian yn codi arian hollbwysig ar gyfer gwasanaethau Macmillan i sicrhau bod pobl sy’n byw gyda chanser yn cael y cymorth corfforol, emosiynol ac ariannol sydd ei angen arnyn nhw.
Does ‘na ddim un ffordd gywir o gynnal bore coffi - gall fod yn beth bynnag rydych chi eisiau iddo fod, a gellir ei gynnal yn y ffordd sy’n fwyaf cyfleus i chi. Gobeithio’n fawr y bydd pawb yn mynd ati i wneud hynny.”
Eleni, mae Bore Coffi Macmillan ddydd Gwener 30 Medi, ond gellir cynnal digwyddiadau lleol gydol y flwyddyn.
Sut bynnag y byddwch chi’n dewis cynnal eich Bore Coffi Macmillan, ewch i https://coffee.macmillan.org.uk i gael syniadau, gemau ac ysbrydoliaeth i bobi.
