Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, says Welsh Government continue to let down the people of North Wales.
As major road building plans across North Wales were axed, Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government says people in his region deserve better.
He said:
Almost all major road building and upgrade projects across North Wales have been scrapped with this roads review, which is quite staggering for my residents. Communities and residents that I represent have been let down again by this Labour Welsh Government.
Private road transport is the only practical option for many of my residents in North Wales because of the rurality and the lack of public transport options. 85% of people rely on a car or motorbike to go about their daily lives, including going to work and tackling poverty.
The Confederation of British Industry Wales have outlined that, when supporting our environment, we need to ensure that the solutions don't damage the economy, because these decisions need to both protect our environment and promote prosperity and tackle poverty, which this roads review is not going to achieve.
Mr Rowlands asked Mjnister Jane Hutt, for her response to the legitimate concerns that this roads review will hold back the people of North Wales even further, whilst having a negative impact on promoting prosperity and tackling poverty.
The Minister said they recognised that as people drive more, fewer people use public transport but they needed to invest in real sustainable alternatives.
Mr Rowlands added:
I find the review quite staggering for North Wales. Scrapping major road building projects which are desperately needed to encourage investment and help the economy grow just shows how out of touch the Welsh Labour Government is with the needs of my region.
The people of North Wales deserve so much better.
Beirniadaeth hallt gan Sam Rowlands AS i adolygiad ffyrdd Llywodraeth Lafur Cymru
Yn ôl Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros y Gogledd, mae Llywodraeth Cymru'n parhau i siomi pobl y Gogledd.
Wrth i gynlluniau adeiladu ffyrdd mawr ledled y Gogledd gael eu dileu, mae Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Llywodraeth Leol yr Wrthblaid, yn dweud bod pobl yn ei ranbarth yn haeddu gwell.
Meddai:
Mae bron pob prosiect mawr i adeiladu ac uwchraddio ffyrdd yn y Gogledd wedi'i ddileu diolch i’r adolygiad ffyrdd hwn, sy'n anhygoel ym marn fy mhreswylwyr. Mae’r cymunedau a’r trigolion rwy'n eu cynrychioli wedi cael eu gadael i lawr eto gan Lywodraeth Lafur Cymru.
Cludiant preifat ar ffyrdd yw'r unig opsiwn ymarferol i lawer o'm trigolion yn y Gogledd oherwydd natur wledig yr ardal a diffyg opsiynau trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus. Mae 85% o bobl yn dibynnu ar gar neu feic modur yn eu bywydau bob dydd, gan gynnwys mynd i'r gwaith a cheisio trechu tlodi.
Mae Cydffederasiwn Diwydiant Prydain yng Nghymru wedi pwysleisio, wrth gefnogi ein hamgylchedd, bod angen i ni sicrhau nad yw'r atebion yn niweidio'r economi, oherwydd mae angen i'r penderfyniadau hyn amddiffyn ein hamgylchedd yn ogystal â hyrwyddo ffyniant a mynd i'r afael â thlodi, a dyw'r adolygiad ffyrdd hwn ddim yn mynd i wneud hynny
Gofynnodd Mr Rowlands i'r Gweinidog Jane Hutt, am ei hymateb i'r pryderon y bydd yr adolygiad ffyrdd hwn yn dal pobl y Gogledd yn ôl ymhellach fyth, a chael effaith negyddol ar hybu ffyniant a mynd i'r afael â thlodi.
Dywedodd y Gweinidog eu bod yn cydnabod bod llai o bobl yn defnyddio trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus wrth i bobl yrru mwy, ond bod angen iddyn nhw fuddsoddi mewn dewisiadau eraill cynaliadwy go iawn.
Ychwanegodd Mr Rowlands:
Mae'r adolygiad yn anhygoel i’r Gogledd. Mae dileu prosiectau mawr i adeiladu ffyrdd y mae dybryd angen amdanynt i annog buddsoddiad a helpu'r economi i dyfu yn dangos pa mor ddi-glem yw Llywodraeth Lafur Cymru am anghenion fy rhanbarth.
Mae pobl y Gogledd yn haeddu cymaint gwell.
