Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales is backing plans to make the TSS Duke of Lancaster a tourist attraction once again.
The former ‘fun ship’ sited at the Llanerch y Mor dock, Llanerch y Mor, near Mostyn, is planning to host an event next month for the first time in more than 30 years.
Mr Rowlands said:
I was delighted to have the opportunity to look around the dock and meet up with John and Antony Rowley. Owners of the vessel and behind plans to use the dock for events.
Boasting the same builders as the Titanic, the TSS Duke of Lancaster is a former railway steamer passenger ship which is listed on the register of National Historic Ships. Many people will remember when it first arrived at Llanerch y Mor in 1979 and operated for a while as the ’fun ship’.
It is dry docked and has lain unused to the public since about the mid-1980s, which is a great shame as it was a popular venue and attracted lots of visitors to the area.
The owners are now hoping to transform it into a tourist destination for families once again and I wish them well for the future.
