Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is once again backing a campaign urging everyone to take part in the Farmer’s Union of Wales Farmhouse Breakfast initiative.
The FUW will be hosting hearty breakfast events across Wales this January to bring people together, and raise money towards a good causes.
Mr Rowlands, who supports the initiative every year said:
I strongly back this annual FUW initiative to encourage people to start the day with family, friends and neighbours.
Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day and I am looking forward to attending a farmhouse breakfast in North Wales, as well as meeting with the FUW in the Senedd.
The initiative is a great idea as not only does it encourage everyone to have a catch up before the day begins in a healthy and positive way but it also helps to raise money for charity.
It is also a wonderful opportunity to showcase the breadth and wealth of quality breakfast produce which is available all over Wales and spotlight the importance to our rural economy.
The breakfasts form part of the FUW’s annual Farmhouse breakfast week, a stalwart of the Welsh agricultural calendar, which will see 24 breakfast events held across Wales this January.
The week will also mark two milestones for the Farmers’ Union of Wales, as it celebrates seventy years since its formation in 1955, and fifteen years since the county breakfast events were first trialled in Caernarfonshire in 2010.
Proceeds from the breakfasts will be donated towards the Wales Air Ambulance and other local charities. Last year’s FUW Farmhouse breakfast week raised over £17,500 towards the Wales Air Ambulance.
Commenting ahead of the FUW’s Farmhouse breakfast week, President Ian Rickman said:
From Llangefni to Llanarthne, the farmhouse breakfast week is one of the highlights of the year, providing an opportunity to start the day together with family, friends and neighbours, in a positive way and at the same time raise money towards our charitable causes.
This year’s breakfast week will be even more special, with the FUW celebrating 70 years since its foundation in 1955. A lot has changed over the past seventy years, agriculturally, socially and politically, but the FUW’s commitment to our family farms and rural communities remains unwavering.
All of us are looking forward to yet another good turnout. It’s fair to say that a healthy start is not just good for a healthy heart but also for a healthy mind.

Mae Sam Rowlands, AS Gogledd Cymru, unwaith eto yn cefnogi ymgyrch sy'n annog pawb i gymryd rhan ym menter Brecwast Ffermdy Undeb Amaethwyr Cymru (FUW).
Bydd yr FUW yn cynnal digwyddiadau brecwast blasus ledled Cymru ym mis Ionawr eleni i ddod â phobl ynghyd, a chodi arian tuag at achosion da.
Dywedodd Mr Rowlands, sy'n cefnogi'r fenter bob blwyddyn:
Rwy'n cefnogi i’r carn y fenter flynyddol hon gan FUW i annog pobl i ddechrau'r diwrnod gyda theulu, ffrindiau a chymdogion.
Brecwast yw un o brydau pwysica'r dydd ac rwy'n edrych ymlaen at fynd i frecwast ffermdy yn y Gogledd, yn ogystal â chwrdd â'r FUW yn y Senedd.
Mae'r fenter yn syniad gwych gan ei fod nid yn unig yn annog pawb i gyfarfod ar ddechrau'r dydd mewn ffordd iach a chadarnhaol ond hefyd yn helpu i godi arian i elusen.
Mae hefyd yn gyfle gwych i arddangos hyd a lled a chyfoeth y cynnyrch brecwast o safon sydd ar gael ledled ein gwlad, a thynnu sylw at bwysigrwydd ein heconomi wledig.
Mae'r brecwastau yn rhan o wythnos brecwast ffermdy flynyddol FUW, un o uchafbwyntiau calendr amaethyddol Cymru, lle bydd 24 o ddigwyddiadau brecwast yn cael eu cynnal ym mhob cwr o’r wlad ym mis Ionawr.
Ar ben hynny, bydd yr wythnos yn nodi dwy garreg filltir i Undeb Amaethwyr Cymru, wrth iddi ddathlu saith deg mlynedd ers ei sefydlu yn 1955, a phymtheng mlynedd ers i'r digwyddiadau brecwast sirol gael eu treialu am y tro cyntaf yn Sir Gaernarfon yn 2010.
Bydd elw o'r brecwastau yn mynd tuag at Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru ac elusennau lleol eraill. Llwyddodd wythnos brecwast ffermdy FUW i godi dros £17,500 y llynedd tuag at Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru.

O Langefni i Lanarthne, mae wythnos brecwast ffermdy yn un o uchafbwyntiau'r flwyddyn, gan roi cyfle i bobl ddechrau'r diwrnod gyda theulu, ffrindiau a chymdogion, mewn ffordd gadarnhaol a chodi arian tuag at ein hachosion elusennol yr un pryd.
Bydd yr wythnos frecwast yn fwy arbennig nag erioed eleni, gyda'r FUW yn dathlu 70 mlynedd ers ei sefydlu yn 1955. Mae llawer wedi newid dros y saith deg mlynedd diwethaf, yn amaethyddol, yn gymdeithasol ac yn wleidyddol, ond mae ymrwymiad yr FUW i'n ffermydd teuluol a'n cymunedau gwledig mor gadarn ag erioed.
Rydyn ni i gyd yn edrych ymlaen at ddenu cynulleidfa dda eto. Mae'n deg dweud bod dechrau iach nid yn unig yn dda i'r galon ond mae’n dda i'r meddwl hefyd.
