Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed a new initiative to help people suffering with mental health.
He said:
I am pleased to see the success of this new free service which was only launched in North Wales last month and is already being well used.
Mental health is something I feel very strongly about and I am happy to support any initiatives which ultimately lead to people getting the help they need.
I would urge anyone concerned about their own mental health or that of a loved one to call this designated line and speak to someone. It really does help to talk.
The new NHS 111+2 service is already averaging around 30 calls after it was launched in January 17 with more than 100,000 people seeing the Facebook posts, and these have been shared nearly 1,000 times.
A comprehensive health board led communications campaign is underway to promote the service with paid adverts on social media, radio and online through Google ads.
The Google adverts have already been seen 50,000 times and a radio campaign with Heart and Capital FM is expected to reach around 250,000 people between now and the end of March. There has also been widespread media coverage across newspaper titles in North Wales.
The 111 Press 2 service is initially available between 08.30 and 23:00, seven days a week, before operating on a 24/7 basis from the end of March 2023, once additional staff have been recruited and trained.
People who are concerned about their own mental health or that of a loved one can call 111 and select option 2 to speak to one of the dedicated wellbeing practitioners.

Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi croesawu menter newydd i helpu pobl sy'n dioddef gydag iechyd meddwl.
Meddai:
Mae'n bleser gweld llwyddiant y gwasanaeth rhad ac am ddim newydd hwn a lansiwyd yn y Gogledd y mis diwethaf ac sydd eisoes yn cael ei ddefnyddio'n dda.
Mae iechyd meddwl yn rhywbeth rwy'n teimlo'n angerddol amdano ac rwy'n hapus i gefnogi unrhyw fentrau sydd yn y pen draw yn arwain at bobl yn cael yr help maen nhw ei angen.
Byddwn yn annog unrhyw un sy'n bryderus am eu hiechyd meddwl eu hunain neu rywun agos iddynt i alw'r llinell bwrpasol hon i siarad â rhywun. Mae wir yn helpu i siarad.
Mae gwasanaeth newydd GIG 111+2 eisoes yn derbyn tua 30 o alwadau ar gyfartaled ers ei lansio ar 17 Ionawr gyda mwy na 100,000 o bobl yn gweld y negeseuon Facebook, ac mae'r rhain wedi cael eu rhannu bron i 1,000 o weithiau.
Mae ymgyrch gyfathrebu gynhwysfawr dan arweiniad y bwrdd iechyd wedi dechrau i hyrwyddo'r gwasanaeth gyda hysbysebion ar gyfryngau cymdeithasol, radio ac ar-lein drwy Google Ads.
Mae'r hysbysebion Google eisoes wedi'u gweld 50,000 o weithiau ac mae disgwyl i ymgyrch radio gyda Heart a Capital FM gyrraedd tua 250,000 o bobl rhwng nawr a diwedd mis Mawrth. Bu sylw eang yn y cyfryngau hefyd ac mewn papurau newydd yn y Gogledd.
Mae gwasanaeth Gwasg 111 ar gael i ddechrau rhwng 08.30 a 23:00, saith niwrnod yr wythnos, cyn gweithredu ar sail 24/7 o ddiwedd mis Mawrth 2023, unwaith y bydd staff ychwanegol wedi cael eu recriwtio a'u hyfforddi.
Gall pobl sy'n pryderu am eu hiechyd meddwl eu hunain neu iechyd rywun agos iddynt ffonio 111 a dewis opsiwn 2 i siarad ag un o'r ymarferwyr llesiant.
