Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is warning constituents about the increase in thefts of parcels left on doorsteps.
Mr Rowlands is backing a call from North Wales Police who have issued advice to reduce the risk of doorstep theft.
He said:
North Wales Police have received a number of reports about the increase in thefts from doorsteps in recent weeks and have issued a timely reminder to us all.
Unfortunately there are unscrupulous people out there who will be on the lookout for unattended parcels.
In the run up to Christmas it is especially important that if you are expecting a delivery make sure you take the necessary precautions so that a loved one’s present is not taken from your doorstep.
North Wales Police have issued some advice to make sure you don’t become a victim of crime this festive season.
To reduce the risk of doorstep theft:
- Track your parcel to ensure someone is at home for the delivery.
- If you are not going to be in, provide the delivery company with details of a safe location to leave your parcel.
- Arrange a delivery time if possible when you know someone will be home to take the parcel.
- Consider installing a ring doorbell; this can be connected to your mobile phone so you are notified immediately of any delivery and is easier and more affordable than CCTV systems.
- Install security lighting.
- Arrange for you parcel to be delivered to a trusted neighbour, family or friend.
- Use an off-site locker service for frequent deliveries or for expensive items, these parcel boxes are more likely to be in safer locations such as supermarkets, petrol forecourts etc.
Sam Rowlands AS yn rhybuddio pobl am adael parseli heb oruchwyliaeth ar garreg y drws
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, yn rhybuddio etholwyr am y cynnydd mewn parseli’n cael eu dwyn o gerrig drysau.
Mae Mr Rowlands yn cefnogi galwad gan Heddlu Gogledd Cymru sydd wedi cyhoeddi cyngor i leihau'r risg o ddwyn o gerrig drysau.
Meddai:
Mae Heddlu Gogledd Cymru wedi derbyn nifer o adroddiadau am y cynnydd mewn achosion o ddwyn o gerrig drysau yn ystod yr wythnosau diwethaf ac wedi rhoi nodyn atgoffa amserol i ni i gyd.
Yn anffodus mae yna bobl ddiegwyddor yn y byd a fydd yn chwilio am barseli wedi’u gadael.
Yn y cyfnod cyn y Nadolig, os ydych chi'n aros am barsel, mae'n arbennig o bwysig gwneud yn siŵr eich bod yn cymryd y rhagofalon angenrheidiol fel na fydd anrheg rhywun annwyl yn cael ei gymryd o garreg y drws.
Mae Heddlu Gogledd Cymru wedi cyhoeddi rhywfaint o gyngor i sicrhau nad ydych chi’n dioddef trosedd dros yr ŵyl.
I leihau'r risg o ddwyn o gerrig drysau:
- Traciwch eich parsel i sicrhau bod rhywun gartref i dderbyn yr eitem.
- Os fyddwch chi adref, rhowch fanylion i'r cwmni dosbarthu am leoliad diogel i adael eich parsel.
- Os yw’n bosibl, trefnwch i’r parsel gael ei dosbarthu ar amser pan fyddwch chi’n gwybod y bydd rhywun adref i’w dderbyn.
- Ystyriwch osod cloch drws ‘ring’; gellir ei chysylltu â'ch ffôn symudol felly fe'ch hysbysir ar unwaith am unrhyw eitem sydd wedi cyrraedd ac mae'n haws ac yn fwy fforddiadwy na systemau CCTV.
- Gosodwch oleuadau diogelwch.
- Trefnwch i’ch eitem gael ei dosbarthu i gymydog, teulu neu ffrind dibynadwy.
- Defnyddiwch wasanaeth locer oddi ar y safle ar gyfer danfoniadau rheolaidd neu ar gyfer eitemau drud, mae'r blychau parseli hyn yn fwy tebygol o fod mewn lleoliadau mwy diogel fel archfarchnadoedd, gorsafoedd petrol ac ati.
