Responding to the news that 730 jobs are at risk as a result of the closure of the 2 Sisters chicken factory, Conservative Member of the Welsh Parliament for the North Wales, Sam Rowlands MS said:
The potential closure of the 2 Sisters chicken factory is a major blow, not just to those whose jobs are at risk, but also to the wider community on Anglesey.
The people of Anglesey and North Wales need Labour ministers to play their part, by urgently responding to this devastating news and provide accelerated support to those who may need it.
I am pleased that my colleague, Virginia Crosbie MP, has raised this issue directly with the Prime Minister and has been assured of the DWPs commitment to supporting those affected by today’s news.
I will expect all layers of government to work together during this time to bring about the best possible outcome for those affected.
Ymateb y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig i gau 2 Sisters
Wrth ymateb i'r newyddion bod 730 o swyddi mewn perygl o ganlyniad i gau ffatri ieir 2 Sisters, dywedodd yr Aelod Ceidwadol o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, Sam Rowlands AS:
Mae cau ffatri ieir 2 Sisters yn ergyd fawr, nid yn unig i'r rhai y mae eu swyddi mewn perygl, ond hefyd i'r gymuned ehangach ar Ynys Môn.
Mae pobl Ynys Môn a Gogledd Cymru angen i weinidogion Llafur weithredu, drwy ymateb ar frys i'r newyddion dinistriol hwn a darparu cymorth gyflymach i'r rhai a allai fod ei angen.
Rwy'n falch bod fy nghydweithiwr, Virginia Crosbie AS, wedi codi'r mater hwn yn uniongyrchol gyda'r Prif Weinidog ac wedi cael sicrwydd o ymrwymiad yr Adran Gwaith a Phensiynau i gefnogi'r rhai sydd wedi’u heffeithio gan newyddion heddiw.
Byddaf yn disgwyl i bob haen o lywodraeth weithio gyda'i gilydd yn ystod y cyfnod hwn er mwyn sicrhau'r canlyniad gorau posibl i'r rhai yr effeithir arnyn nhw.
