Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is backing a scheme to help young people learn more about the consequences of becoming involved in a life of crime.
He said:
These days more than ever it is vital to get the message out there that crime certainly does not pay and I am pleased to hear about the workshops which have been run by Theatr Clwyd looking at the repercussions of criminal behaviour.
Now funding from the Home Office Safer Streets Fund is giving young people the opportunity to gain a further insight into the consequences of becoming involved in crime.
These special workshops are being held in Connah’s Quay, Shotton, Queensferry and Sealand in February and I would urge anyone interested to sign up.
With the support of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales and Safer Streets Fund, young people aged 10-17 and their parents or carers and members of the community from Connah’s Quay, Shotton, Queensferry and Sealand will be able to participate in special workshop together with partners from Youth Justice, Flintshire Sorted, Flintshire Youth Service and Aura.
Together they will follow the story of a young man, who steadily becomes involved with the wrong crowd, and finds himself on the wrong side of the law.
Working with facilitators, professional actors, Flintshire Youth Justice Service and Flintshire Sorted, they will gain insight into how the criminal justice system works in relation to young people, examine the choices and indicators around our young offender, and look at the wider impact of Anti-Social Behaviour not only on the individual, but on families and the wider community.
There will also be an opportunity to question and debate the circumstances around the crime, and together look for the reasons behind his behaviour, and collectively discover the solutions.
Following the workshop, Aura will be facilitating a number of sports activities for participants to get involved in where food and refreshments will be available.
The Workshops will take place on: Monday February 20, Connah’s Quay Youth Club 1.00pm – 4.30pm and Deeside Leisure Centre 5.00pm -9pm: Tuesday February 21, Sealand Youth Club 1.00pm – 4.30pm and Sealand Youth Club 5.00pm – 8.30pm: Wednesday February 22 Ty Calon 1.00pm – 4.30pm.

Sam Rowlands AS yn cefnogi prosiect ar gyfer Strydoedd Saffach
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o'r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, yn cefnogi cynllun i helpu pobl ifanc i ddysgu mwy am ganlyniadau bywyd o droseddu.
Meddai:
Yn y byd sydd ohoni, mae'n hanfodol pwysleisio'r neges yn fwy nag erioed nad yw troseddu’n talu ffordd, ac rwy'n falch o glywed am y gweithdai sydd wedi cael eu cynnal gan Theatr Clwyd yn edrych ar ôl-effeithiau ymddygiad troseddol.
Nawr mae cyllid gan Gronfa Strydoedd Saffach y Swyddfa Gartref yn rhoi cyfle i bobl ifanc gael cipolwg pellach ar ganlyniadau troseddu.
Mae'r gweithdai arbennig hyn yn cael eu cynnal yng Nghei Connah, Shotton, Queensferry a Sealand ym mis Chwefror a byddwn i'n annog unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb i gofrestru.
Gyda chefnogaeth Swyddfa’r Comisiynydd Heddlu a Throseddu Gogledd Cymru a Chronfa Strydoedd Saffach, bydd modd i bobl ifanc rhwng 10-17 oed a'u rhieni neu ofalwyr ac aelodau o gymuned Cei Connah, Shotton, Queensferry a Sealand, gymryd rhan mewn gweithdy arbennig ynghyd â phartneriaid o’r gwasanaeth Cyfiawnder Ieuenctid, Sorted Sir y Fflint, Gwasanaeth Ieuenctid Sir y Fflint ac Aura.
Gyda'i gilydd byddant yn dilyn hanes dyn ifanc, sy’n dod yn rhan o'r criw anghywir o dipyn i beth, ac yn torri’r gyfraith yn sgil hynny.
Gan weithio gyda hwyluswyr, actorion proffesiynol, Gwasanaeth Cyfiawnder Ieuenctid Sir y Fflint a Sorted Sir y Fflint, byddant yn cael cipolwg ar sut mae'r system cyfiawnder troseddol yn gweithredu mewn perthynas â phobl ifanc, byddant yn archwilio'r dewisiadau a'r dangosyddion sy'n gysylltiedig â'n troseddwr ifanc, ac yn edrych ar effaith ehangach ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol nid yn unig ar yr unigolyn, ond ar deuluoedd a'r gymuned ehangach.
Bydd cyfle i gwestiynu a thrafod yr amgylchiadau’n ymwneud â throsedd hefyd, a mynd ati gyda'i gilydd i chwilio am y rhesymau y tu ôl i'r ymddygiad, a darganfod yr atebion gyda’i gilydd.
Yn dilyn y gweithdy, bydd Aura yn hwyluso nifer o weithgareddau chwaraeon i'r cyfranogwyr gymryd rhan ynddynt a bydd bwyd a lluniaeth ar gael yno hefyd.
Cynhelir y gweithdai fel a ganlyn: Dydd Llun 20 Chwefror, Clwb Ieuenctid Cei Connah 1.00pm – 4.30pm a Chanolfan Hamdden Glannau Dyfrdwy 5.00pm -9pm: Dydd Mawrth 21 Chwefror, Clwb Ieuenctid Sealand 1.00pm – 4.30pm a Chlwb Ieuenctid Sealand 5.00pm – 8.30pm: Dydd Mercher 22 Chwefror Tŷ Calon 1.00pm – 4.30pm.
Mae'r llefydd yn brin felly mae'n rhaid archebu lle ymlaen llaw. Trefnwch eich llefydd drwy: https://bookwhen.com/aurasportdevelopment
Mae Strydoedd Saffach yn rhaglen gwerth £75 miliwn gan y Swyddfa Gartref sy'n annog Comisiynwyr Heddlu a Throseddu ac awdurdodau lleol i gynnig am fuddsoddiad ar gyfer mentrau i atal troseddau cymdogaeth.
