Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed news that a Ruthin school is set to undergo work to improve onsite energy efficiency.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government, is a keen supporter of the environment and ways at encouraging us all to get involved with tackling climate change.
He said:
I am delighted to see work will start at Ysgol Brynhyfryd in Ruthin, next month to improve onsite energy efficiency.
We all have a responsibility to improve our carbon footprint for future generations and look at sustainable energy solutions.
I am pleased to see Denbighshire County Council announcing this project which should reduce long term energy costs and provide a more efficient environment.
These days more and more people are looking at ways of saving on their household costs and at the same time helping the environment.
I welcome any measures which will ultimately help councils to reduce their energy costs.
Denbighshire County Council’s Energy team are preparing to start work at Ysgol Brynhyfryd during January 2024 and the project is expected to be completed after the February half term holidays
The team is currently working on a number of projects to improve building energy efficiency and also support the reduction of carbon emissions and usage costs over the longer term.
The Welsh Government are funding 90 percent of the low carbon heat project which will see the school to receive two 50kW air source heat pumps which will be housed in a new compound on site.
The council is funding an additional two solar PV arrays – making the school have a total of three arrays (bringing the total to around 100kW) and LED lighting systems to help reduce emissions and utility costs at the school and provide a better environment for both pupils and staff.
Heat pumps turn one unit of energy into three units of heat by using ambient environmental temperature and can utilise some of the output from the solar panels to do this.
Robert Jones, Principal Energy Manager said:
We are really grateful to the school for allowing us to carry out this project and the WG for mostly funding the heat pumps and look forward to working with them and supporting them in becoming a more energy efficient site.
Sam Rowlands AS yn falch o glywed am brosiect gwres carbon isel i ysgol yn Sir Ddinbych
Mae Sam Rowlands, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi croesawu newyddion y bydd ysgol yn Rhuthun yn gwneud gwaith i wella effeithlonrwydd ynni ar y safle.
Mae Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog y Cabinet dros Lywodraeth Leol, yn gefnogwr brwd i’r amgylchedd a ffyrdd o’n hannog ni i gyd i gyfrannu at daclo newid yn yr hinsawdd.
Meddai:
Rwy’n falch o ddeall y bydd y gwaith yn dechrau yn Ysgol Brynhyfryd, Rhuthun, fis nesaf i wella effeithlonrwydd ynni ar y safle.
Mae gan bob un ohonom gyfrifoldeb i wella ein hôl-troed carbon ar gyfer cenedlaethau’r dyfodol ac edrych ar ddatrysiadau ynni cynaliadwy.
Rwy’n falch o weld Cyngor Sir Ddinbych yn cyhoeddi’r prosiect hwn a ddylai leihau costau ynni hirdymor a darparu amgylchedd mwy effeithlon o ran ynni.
Bellach, mae mwy a mwy o bobl yn chwilio am ffyrdd o arbed arian ar gostau eu cartref gan helpu’r amgylchedd ar yr un pryd.
Rwy’n croesawu unrhyw fesurau a fydd yn helpu cynghorau i leihau eu costau ynni yn y pen draw.
Mae Tîm Ynni Cyngor Sir Ddinbych wrthi’n paratoi i ddechrau gwaith yn Ysgol Brynhyfryd yn ystod mis Ionawr 2024 ac mae disgwyl i’r prosiect gael ei gwblhau ar ôl gwyliau hanner tymor mis Chwefror.
Mae’r tîm wrthi’n gweithio ar nifer o brosiectau i wella effeithlonrwydd ynni adeiladau ac i gefnogi lleihau allyriadau carbon a chostau defnyddio dros y tymor hir.
Mae Llywodraeth Cymru’n ariannu 90 y cant o’r prosiect gwres carbon isel a fydd yn gweld yr ysgol yn derbyn dau bwmp gwres ffynhonnell aer 50kW a fydd yn cael eu lleoli mewn compownd newydd ar y safle.
Mae’r cyngor yn ariannu dau aráe PV solar ychwanegol – a fydd yn golygu y bydd gan yr ysgol dri aráe (gan ddod â’r cyfanswm i tua 100kW) a system oleuo LED i helpu i leihau allyriadau a chostau cyfleustodau yn yr ysgol a darparu amgylchedd gwell i ddisgyblion a staff.
Mae pympiau gwres yn troi un uned o ynni yn dair uned o wres drwy ddefnyddio tymheredd aer amgylchynol ac yn gallu defnyddio peth o’r allbwn o baneli solar i wneud hyn.
Meddai Robert Jones, y Prif Reolwr Ynni:
Rydyn ni’n ddiolchgar iawn i’r ysgol am adael i ni gyflawni’r prosiect hwn ac i Lywodraeth Cymru yn bennaf am ariannu’r pympiau gwres ac edrychwn ymlaen at weithio gyda nhw a’u cefnogi i fod yn safle mwy ynni effeithlon.
