Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales is urging people to have their say on proposals to see more household waste reduced, reused and recycled in Flintshire.
Mr Rowlands is calling on his constituents to take part in a consultation by Flintshire County Council.
He said:
It is encouraging to see that Flintshire County Council are seeking views from local people on this issue. It is vitally important everyone is given the chance to have their say on what they think about the council’s plans to recycle more.
I would urge anyone wanting to find out more to attend one of the drop in events being held across the county.
The consultation was launched on December 1, and residents and local communities are invited to share their views on the new draft Resources and Waste strategy which aims to see more household waste reduced, reused and recycled.
Flintshire County Council is currently at risk of being fined more than £1.1 million for failing to hit the Welsh Government’s recycling targets in 2021/22 and 2022/23, with the bill likely to fall on Council Tax payers or local services like schools.
If adopted, the strategy aims to improve recycling rates in Flintshire from 61% to 70% and deliver the council’s ambitions of becoming net carbon zero by 2030.
Residents are being asked to give their views on the draft strategy between December 1 and January 12. During this time, there will be a number of community information drop-in events across the county to give people an opportunity to find out more and discuss the plans with the council.
Copies of the draft strategy and consultation questionnaire will be available at the Connects Centres and Household Recycling Centres throughout the consultation period. A copy of the draft strategy can be found online here. To complete the short questionnaire please click here.
Any paper copies completed can be emailed to [email protected] or alternatively posted to: Flintshire County Council, Streetscene and Transportation, Alltami Depot, Mold Road, Alltami, Flintshire, CH7 6LG.

Sam Rowlands AS yn croesawu cynlluniau i drigolion rannu eu barn ar strategaeth ddrafft cyngor i leihau gwastraff a gwella ailgylchu
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod Rhanbarthol o'r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, yn annog pobl i ddweud eu dweud ar gynigion i weld mwy o wastraff y cartref yn cael ei leihau, ei ailddefnyddio a'i ailgylchu yn Sir y Fflint.
Mae Mr Rowlands yn galw ar ei etholwyr i gymryd rhan mewn ymgynghoriad gan Gyngor Sir y Fflint.
Meddai:
Mae'n galonogol gweld bod Cyngor Sir y Fflint yn gofyn am farn pobl leol ar y mater hwn. Mae'n hanfodol bwysig bod pawb yn cael cyfle i ddweud eu dweud a rhoi eu barn am gynlluniau'r cyngor i ailgylchu mwy.
Byddwn i'n annog unrhyw un sydd am ddarganfod mwy i fynychu un o'r digwyddiadau galw heibio sy'n cael eu cynnal ar draws y sir.
Lansiwyd yr ymgynghoriad ar 1 Rhagfyr, a gwahoddir trigolion a chymunedau lleol i rannu eu barn ar y strategaeth Adnoddau a Gwastraff drafft newydd sydd â’r nod o weld mwy o wastraff cartref yn cael ei leihau, ei ailddefnyddio a'i ailgylchu.
Ar hyn o bryd, mae Cyngor Sir y Fflint mewn perygl o gael dirwy o dros £1.1 miliwn am fethu â chyrraedd targedau ailgylchu Llywodraeth Cymru yn 2021/22 a 2022/23, ac mae'r bil yn debygol o gael ei ysgwyddo gan dalwyr y Dreth Gyngor neu wasanaethau lleol fel ysgolion.
Os caiff ei mabwysiadu, nod y strategaeth yw gwella cyfraddau ailgylchu yn Sir y Fflint o 61% i 70% a chyflawni uchelgeisiau'r cyngor o ddod yn garbon sero net erbyn 2030.
Gofynnir i drigolion roi eu barn ar y strategaeth ddrafft rhwng 1 Rhagfyr a 12 Ionawr. Yn ystod y cyfnod hwn, bydd nifer o ddigwyddiadau galw heibio i ddarparu gwybodaeth i’r gymuned ledled y sir i roi cyfle i bobl wybod mwy a thrafod y cynlluniau gyda'r cyngor.
