Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is encouraging local people to help celebrate the heritage of the town of Flint.
He is backing a call from Flintshire County Council to submit their best pictures of Flint town, castle and coast to feature in an exhibition later this year.
He said:
I am a great supporter of ’Off Flint’ which is an exciting project to encourage local people to help celebrate the rich heritage of the town.
This latest initiative urges people in the community to go out and take photographs of Flint town, castle and coast and submit their best pictures.
It is a wonderful idea and I would urge everyone to get out and about now and take some photographs to feature in the exhibition.
As part of Flintshire County Council’s ‘Off Flint’ project, the council is asking people go out and take pictures. These might be of your favourite view or perhaps a hidden details that is usually overlooked. They are also keen to hear the story behind the photo, what made you take it and why it is so special to you.
The photos will be on display in the final ‘Off Flint’ Exhibition in Flint Library during June and July, and will also be added to the digital kiosk as a permanent reminder.
‘Off Flint’ is an exciting project to involve local people in recording, conserving and celebrating the rich heritage of Flint town, castle and coast. Stories, photos and artefacts gathered during the project will form the basis of a new community archive in Flint Library so that the information gathered is widely accessible to everyone.
The project is led by Flintshire County Council and, thanks to the National Lottery players, has received £54,200 funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Any photos of people must be taken with their permission. The last date to send photos in is Friday, May 24, 2024. Photos, along with the photography form, can be submitted via email to [email protected]

Rwy’n gefnogol iawn i ’Off Flint’, prosiect cyffrous i annog pobl leol i helpu i ddathlu treftadaeth gyfoethog y dref.
Mae’r fenter ddiweddaraf hon yn annog pobl yn y gymuned i fynd allan a thynnu lluniau o dref, castell ac arfordir y Fflint a chyflwyno eu lluniau gorau.
Mae’n syniad gwych a byddwn yn annog pawb i fynd allan i dynnu lluniau ar gyfer yr arddangosfa’.
Fel rhan o brosiect ‘Off Flint’ Cyngor Sir y Fflint, mae’r cyngor yn gofyn i bobl fynd allan a thynnu lluniau. Gall y rhain fod yn hoff olygfa neu’n rhywbeth cudd sy’n cael ei anwybyddu fel arfer. Maen nhw’n awyddus i glywed y stori y tu ôl y llun hefyd, pam wnaethoch chi ei dynnu a pham ei fod yn arbennig i chi.
Bydd y lluniau’n cael eu harddangos yn yr Arddangosfa ‘Off Flint’ derfynol yn Llyfrgell y Fflint ym mis Mehefin a Gorffennaf, ac yn cael eu hychwanegu at y ciosg digidol fel cofnod parhaol.
Mae ‘Off Flint’ yn brosiect cyffrous i gynnwys pobl leol mewn cofnodi, gwarchod a dathlu treftadaeth gyfoethog tref, castell ac arfordir y Fflint. Bydd straeon, lluniau ac arteffactau a gesglir yn ystod y prosiect yn ffurfio sail archif gymunedol newydd yn Llyfrgell y Fflint fel bod y wybodaeth a gasglwyd ar gael i bawb ei gweld.
Mae’r prosiect yn cael ei arwain gan Gyngor Sir y Fflint, a diolch i chwaraewyr y Loteri Genedlaethol, mae wedi derbyn £54,200 o arian gan Gronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri Genedlaethol.
