Sam Rowlands, MS for North Wales has praised the work of pharmacies in his Region for their efforts to help in the fight against Covid.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government, was commenting after he recently visited Rowlands Pharmacy in Prestatyn, along with fellow MS Gareth Lloyd Davies, who represents the Vale of Clwyd.
Sam said:
I was delighted to be able to visit the pharmacy and personally thank the staff for all their hard work.
Rowlands Pharmacies is one of only 16 in Wales, running Covid clinics and I was very impressed with what I saw. It is great idea to offer local people the chance to have their vaccination while shopping in the High Street.
We need to do everything we can to encourage everyone to have the jab and the more dedicated local clinics we have the better, especially as mass vaccination centres will soon be decommissioned.
Pharmacies already give flu jabs so it is only natural to use them to help control the virus in the coming years.
Before Covid, Rowlands Pharmacies, piloted a successful sore throat test and treat clinic where patients received guidance to self-diagnose and receive medication.
The pilot also delivered a financial saving for the NHS as fewer people were self-diagnosing individually and accessing incorrect medicine.
Judy Thomas, Director of Contractor Services at Community Pharmacy Wales, said:
CPW was absolutely delighted to welcome Members of the Senedd. Sam Rowlands and Gareth Lloyd Davies to visit a community pharmacy so quickly into their terms of office.
Both of them showed a real interest in the range of services being delivered through the network, and saw first-hand how adaptable a community pharmacy can be by experiencing first hand a Covid vaccination clinic.
Sam Arnold, Regional Leader for Rowlands Pharmacy in North Wales, said:
Accessible healthcare on the high street is a key part of what we do as community pharmacists.
By offering a Covid vaccine service in such an accessible location we have provided an opportunity for many people in Prestatyn to get their Covid jabs in a really accessible way and we are hopeful that the community pharmacy network will be a key part of the roll out of Covid booster vaccines to.
Sam Rowlands yn ymweld â chlinig COVID Prestatyn
Mae Sam Rowlands, AS Gogledd Cymru, wedi canmol gwaith fferyllfeydd yn ei Ranbarth am eu hymdrechion i helpu yn y frwydr yn erbyn Covid.
Roedd Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Llywodraeth Leol yr Wrthblaid, yn gwneud ei sylwadau ar ôl ymweliad diweddar â Fferyllfa Rowlands ym Mhrestatyn, gyda Gareth Lloyd Davies AS, sy’n cynrychioli Dyffryn Clwyd.
Meddai Sam:
Braint oedd ymweld â’r fferyllfa a diolch i’r staff yn bersonol am eu holl waith caled.
Mae Fferyllfa Rowlands yn un o ddim ond 16 yng Nghymru sy’n rhedeg clinigau Covid ac fe wnaeth yr hyn a welais gryn argraff arna’i. Mae’n syniad da iawn cynnig y cyfle i bobl leol gael eu brechu wrth siopa ar y Stryd Fawr.
Mae angen i ni wneud popeth y gallwn i annog pawb i gael eu brechu a gorau po fwyaf o glinigau ymroddedig sydd gennym, yn enwedig o ystyried y bydd canolfannau brechu torfol yn cael eu datgomisiynu maes o law.
Mae fferyllfeydd eisoes yn rhoi brechlynnau ffliw felly dyw hi ond yn naturiol eu defnyddio i helpu i reoli’r feirws yn y blynyddoedd nesaf.
Cyn Covid, treialodd Fferyllfa Rowlands glinig profi a thrin dolur gwddf llwyddiannus lle’r oedd cleifion yn derbyn cyfarwyddyd i hunanddiagnosio a derbyn meddyginiaeth.
Arweiniodd y peilot hefyd at arbedion ariannol i’r GIG gan fod llai o bobl yn hunanddiagnosio eu hunain ac yn cymryd y feddyginiaeth anghywir.
Meddai Judy Thomas, Cyfarwyddwr Gwasanaethau Contractwyr Fferylliaeth Gymunedol Cymru:
Roedd Fferylliaeth Gymunedol Cymru wrth ei bod yn cael croesawu’r Aelodau o’r Senedd Sam Rowlands a Gareth Lloyd Davies i ymweld â fferyllfa gymunedol mor fuan yn eu tymhorau yn y swydd.
Dangosodd y naill a’r llall ddiddordeb go iawn yn y gwasanaethau amrywiol sy’n cael eu darparu drwy’r rhwydwaith. Fe welson nhw pa mor hawdd yw gallu addasu fferyllfa gymunedol wrth wylio clinig brechu Covid ar waith.
Meddai Sam Arnold, Arweinydd Rhanbarthol Fferyllfa Rowlands yn y Gogledd:
Mae gofal iechyd hygyrch ar y stryd fawr yn rhan allweddol o’r hyn rydym yn ei wneud fel fferyllwyr cymunedol.
Trwy gynnig gwasanaeth brechu Covid mewn lleoliad mor hygyrch, rydym wedi rhoi’r cyfle i lawer o bobl ym Mhrestatyn i gael eu brechlyn Covid mewn ffordd hygyrch iawn a’r gobaith yw y bydd y rhwydwaith fferyllfa gymunedol yn rhan allweddol o’r broses o gyflwyno brechlynnau atgyfnerthu Covid yn raddol.
