Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is urging people to make sure they forensically mark their valuables so they can be traced back to them if stolen.
He is backing a call from North Wales Police who are encouraging people to use SmartWater, a forensic marking liquid which you can apply to almost any surface.
Mr Rowlands said:
These days more than ever it is vital that we make sure that we do everything we possibly can to protect our valuable and belongings.
By marking them with the forensic marker SmartWater it is one way of ensuring your things will be returned to you if they are stolen.
It really is an excellent way of keeping track of your possessions if they go missing and I am backing this timely reminder from North Wales Police.
SmartWater is a forensic marking liquid which you can apply to almost any surface and each bottle contains a completely unique chemical code, which is within the liquid and it is then registered to you.
It can be applied to almost anything, such as jewellery, watches, iPad, mobile phones, laptops, games consoles, cameras, motorbikes and cars. It dries clear and is almost invisible to the naked eye however glows bright green under UV light.
The maximum amount of SmartWater you need to forensically mark an item is a “pea sized blob” and one bottle can mark up to 80 items.
Every single item which goes through North Wales Polices property system is now being checked for SmartWater using UV torches and lights
North Wales Police currently have a discount code for all North Wales residents to purchase SmartWater from the DeterTech website.
SmartWater retails for £59.50, however with the discount code it brings the cost down to £25.
If you are wanting to purchase SmartWater using the discount code, simply email [email protected] with your name, address and that you are wanting the SmartWater discount code.
