Two Members of the Senedd paid a visit to the in-demand Neuro Therapy Centre in Saltney this week to find out more about their expansion plans. to meet members and staff, and to hear about their fundraising campaign.
The Neuro Therapy Centre is a charity which provides practical support and therapies to help manage the symptoms of a wide range of long-term neurological conditions including MS, Parkinson's, MND and ME.
It started out over 30 years ago supporting people with Multiple Sclerosis and has expanded its services and expertise over the years to support over 550 people across North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral.
The healthcare professionals at the Centre tailor fitness, exercise and physiotherapy programmes to help people whether they have been recently diagnosed or living with a neurological condition for some time.
Mark Isherwood and Sam Rowlands visited on Monday to find out more about their latest plans, which include fundraising for an extension to the facility.
Mr Isherwood, who is Chair of the Cross-Party Group on Disability and who Chaired the former Cross-Party Group on Neurological Conditions in the Welsh Parliament, said:
It was a great pleasure to revisit the Neuro Therapy Centre to with the CEO and a Trustee the support they provide to people with long-term neurological conditions and their Carers and how demand for this support has led them to embark on an expansion project.
They are the only specialist provider supporting people with Neurological Conditions and their Carers in North Wales, preventing crisis and deterioration, delivering exercise and wellbeing, and can help Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board tackle delayed discharges and reduce pressure on its services. I will be seeking the Health Board’s agreement to a round table meeting with them to this end, having facilitated equivalent meetings seeking to achieve this previously.
They have grown so much in recent years that they are expanding into an additional building next to their existing site. This expansion will enable them to support more people with a neurological condition, and assist them in maximising their potential to live their best neuro life.
They are doing excellent work and I wish them the best of luck with this latest venture.
Mr Rowlands said:
It was a very interesting and useful visit and I thank them for inviting us.
The Centre provides members and their Carers with excellent health and social care which cannot be accessed through public services. Each week, over 250 members access services directly, provided by a team of healthcare and other professionals and many volunteers.
Given the excellent service they provide, I am not surprised that they need to expand.
The new space will provide a home for an extended gym, individual therapy rooms and group exercise. It will free up space to expand their counselling and emotional support therapies in their existing building, and allow them to grow their social space too - the hub of the Centre, which provides a lively, friendly and supportive place for people to meet and talk.
We are very fortunate to have this first-class facility here in North Wales. I wish them well with the extension and fundraising and look forward to revisiting once it is completed.
ASau Gogledd Cymru yn cefnogi gwaith i ehangu Canolfan Niwrotherapi
Fe wnaeth dau Aelod o'r Senedd ymweld â'r Ganolfan Niwrotherapi hynod bwysig yn Saltney yr wythnos hon i ddysgu mwy am y cynlluniau i'w hehangu, cyfarfod ag aelodau a staff, a chlywed am yr ymgyrch codi arian.
Mae'r Ganolfan Niwrotherapi yn elusen sy'n darparu cymorth a therapïau ymarferol i helpu i reoli symptomau ystod eang o gyflyrau niwrolegol hirdymor gan gynnwys MS, clefyd Parkinson, MND ac ME.
Sefydlwyd y Ganolfan dros 30 mlynedd yn ôl i gefnogi pobl â Sglerosis Ymledol, ac mae wedi ehangu ei gwasanaethau a'i harbenigedd dros y blynyddoedd i gefnogi dros 550 o bobl ledled Gogledd Cymru, Swydd Gaer a Chilgwri.
Mae'r gweithwyr gofal iechyd proffesiynol yn y Ganolfan yn paratoi rhaglenni ffitrwydd, ymarfer corff a ffisiotherapi i helpu pobl sydd wedi cael diagnosis diweddar neu sy'n byw gyda chyflwr niwrolegol ers peth amser.
Ymwelodd Mark Isherwood a Sam Rowlands â'r Ganolfan Niwrotherapi ddydd Llun i ddysgu mwy am y cynlluniau diweddaraf, gan gynnwys codi arian i greu estyniad i'r cyfleuster.
Dywedodd Mr Isherwood, sy'n Gadeirydd y Grŵp Trawsbleidiol ar Anabledd ac a fu'n Gadeirydd y Grŵp Trawsbleidiol ar Gyflyrau Niwrolegol yn Senedd Cymru:
Roedd yn bleser mawr i mi ailymweld â'r Ganolfan Niwrotherapi gyda'r Prif Swyddog Gweithredol ac Ymddiriedolwr er mwyn clywed am y cymorth sy'n cael ei ddarparu yno i bobl â chyflyrau niwrolegol hirdymor a'u Gofalwyr, a'r ffaith fod y galw am y cymorth hwn wedi arwain at gychwyn prosiect ehangu.
Dyma’r unig ddarparwr arbenigol sy'n cefnogi pobl â chyflyrau niwrolegol a'u gofalwyr yn y Gogledd. Mae'r Ganolfan yn atal argyfyngau a dirywiad, yn darparu gwasanaethau ymarfer corff a llesiant, ac mae'n gallu helpu Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr i fynd i'r afael ag oedi cyn rhyddhau cleifion a lleihau'r pwysau ar ei wasanaethau. Byddaf yn gofyn i'r Bwrdd Iechyd gytuno i gyfarfod bord gron i'r perwyl hwn, ar ôl hwyluso cyfarfodydd tebyg i geisio cyflawni hyn o'r blaen.
Mae'r Ganolfan wedi tyfu cymaint dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf nes ei bod yn ehangu i adeilad ychwanegol wrth ymyl ei safle presennol. Bydd yr ehangiad hwn yn galluogi'r Ganolfan i gefnogi mwy o bobl â chyflwr niwrolegol, a'u cynorthwyo i fanteisio'n llawn ar eu potensial i fyw bywyd i’r eithaf.
Mae'r Ganolfan yn gwneud gwaith rhagorol ac rwy'n dymuno'r gorau iddi gyda'r fenter ddiweddaraf hon.
Meddai Mr Rowlands:
Roedd yn ymweliad diddorol a defnyddiol iawn ac rwy'n diolch iddyn nhw am ein gwahodd ni.
Mae'r Ganolfan yn darparu gwasanaethau iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol rhagorol i aelodau a'u Gofalwyr, a dydy’r gwasanaethau hyn ddim ar gael trwy wasanaethau cyhoeddus. Bob wythnos, mae dros 250 o aelodau yn defnyddio'r gwasanaethau yn uniongyrchol, sy'n cael eu darparu gan dîm o weithwyr gofal iechyd proffesiynol a gweithwyr proffesiynol eraill a llawer o wirfoddolwyr.
O ystyried y gwasanaeth rhagorol y maen nhw'n ei ddarparu, does dim syndod bod angen iddyn nhw ehangu.
Bydd y lle newydd yn cynnwys campfa estynedig, ystafelloedd therapi unigol a lle ar gyfer ymarfer corff mewn grŵp. Bydd yn rhyddhau lle i ehangu therapïau cwnsela a chymorth emosiynol y Ganolfan yn ei hadeilad presennol, gan helpu i ddatblygu'r ardal gymdeithasol hefyd - canolbwynt y Ganolfan, sy'n darparu lle bywiog, cyfeillgar a chefnogol i bobl gyfarfod am sgwrs.
Rydym yn ffodus iawn i gael y cyfleuster o'r radd flaenaf hon yn y Gogledd. Rwy'n dymuno'n dda i'r Ganolfan gyda'r estyniad a'r gweithgarwch codi arian ac rwy'n edrych ymlaen at ailymweld unwaith y bydd y gwaith wedi'i gwblhau.
