Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has hit out at the lack of planning for the roll out of the 20mph speed limit.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government and harsh critic of the forthcoming implementation was commenting after it was revealed that Flintshire County Council will change all signs on affected roads to 20mph next month including those to be exempt.
He said:
It really is quite unbelievable that roads which are to remain at 30mph will show signs for 20mph while Flintshire County Council kick the can down the road on deciding exemptions.
I am totally amazed that yet again the Welsh Labour Government have failed to plan for this ridiculous roll out which is not supported by the majority of the public.
It is about time Ministers took a long hard look at this issue and kicked the idea into touch.
Sam Rowlands AS yn beirniadu Llywodraeth Cymru ynghylch gweithredu’r terfyn cyflymder o 20mya
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros y Gogledd, wedi tynnu sylw at y diffyg cynllunio ar gyfer cyflwyno'r terfyn cyflymder o 20mya.
Gwnaeth Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Llywodraeth Leol yr Wrthblaid a beirniad llym y gweithredu arfaethedig y sylw ar ôl y cyhoeddiad y bydd Cyngor Sir y Fflint yn newid pob arwydd ar ffyrdd yr effeithir arnynt i 20mya fis nesaf, gan gynnwys y rhai sydd i'w heithrio.
Meddai:
Mae'n anghredadwy y bydd ffyrdd sydd i fod i barhau’n 30mya yn dangos arwyddion 20mya tra bod Cyngor Sir y Fflint yn llaesu eu dwylo wrth benderfynu ar eithriadau.
Dwi'n rhyfeddu bod Llywodraeth Lafur Cymru wedi methu, unwaith eto, â chynllunio ar gyfer y cam hurt hwn nad yw'n cael ei gefnogi gan fwyafrif y cyhoedd.
Mae'n hen bryd i Weinidogion edrych o ddifrif ar y mater hwn ac anghofio am y syniad.
