Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has been seeing firsthand how technology can be incorporated into our healthcare.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Health Minister, was commenting during a recent visit to the University of Manchester – Alliance Manchester Business School Data Visualization Observatory.
He said:
I was delighted to have the opportunity to speak with experts about how we can make use of data to ultimately help improve our healthcare.
It was great to talk to Professor Dame Rachel Griffith about her work around obesity, nutrition and to meet Professor Ang Davies and Alan Davies and hear all about their research in healthcare technology.
It certainly was a fascinating visit and as Shadow Health Minister I was delighted to see how technology can be incorporated with our healthcare to improve its efficiency.
It is important that the Welsh NHS embraces new and developing technology, as this can help to speed up the diagnostic process and ultimately lead to a healthier population, not to mention relieving the pressures on our NHS.
During his visit Mr Rowlands was given a tour of the AMBS Data Visualisation Observatory, where he had the opportunity to view an interactive 3D visualisation of data showcasing insights related to obesity, child and adolescent mental health, COVID, and the role of data visualisation in hospital care.
The Data Visualisation Observatory is the first of its kind in the UK and offers interactive 3D visualisation of data with laser-sharp definition on a cylindrical matrix of 72 full HD screens. Health is just one examples of the type of research carried out there.
Sam Rowlands AS yn darganfod sut y gellir defnyddio technoleg i helpu i wella iechyd
Mae Sam Rowlands, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros y Gogledd, wedi bod yn gweld gyda’i lygaid ei hun sut y gellir ymgorffori technoleg yn ein gofal iechyd.
Roedd Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Iechyd yr Wrthblaid, yn siarad yn ystod ymweliad diweddar ag Arsyllfa Delweddu Data Prifysgol Manceinion – Alliance Manchester Business School.
Meddai:
Roeddwn i’n falch iawn o gael y cyfle i siarad ag arbenigwyr am sut y gallwn ddefnyddio data i helpu i wella ein gofal iechyd yn y pen draw.
Roedd hi’n wych siarad â'r Athro y Fonesig Rachel Griffith am ei gwaith ar ordewdra a maeth a chwrdd â'r Athro Ang Davies ac Alan Davies a chlywed am eu hymchwil i dechnoleg gofal iechyd.
Roedd yn sicr yn ymweliad hynod ddiddorol ac fel Gweinidog Iechyd yr Wrthblaid roeddwn i wrth fy modd yn gweld sut y gellir ymgorffori technoleg gyda'n gofal iechyd i wella ei effeithlonrwydd.
Mae'n bwysig bod GIG Cymru yn cofleidio technoleg newydd a datblygol, oherwydd gall helpu i gyflymu'r broses ddiagnostig ac yn y pen draw arwain at boblogaeth iachach, heb sôn am ysgafnhau'r pwysau ar ein GIG.
Yn ystod ei ymweliad cafodd Mr Rowlands daith o amgylch Arsyllfa Delweddu Data AMBS, lle cafodd gyfle i weld delweddu rhyngweithiol 3D o ddata. Clywodd hefyd sut mae’r dechnoleg yn darparu mewnwelediadau ym meysydd gordewdra, iechyd meddwl plant a phobl ifanc, COVID, a rôl delweddu data o safbwynt gofal ysbyty.
Yr Arsyllfa Delweddu Data yw'r cyntaf o'i math yn y DU ac mae'n cynnig delweddu 3D rhyngweithiol o ddata gyda diffiniad laser manwl ar fatrics silindrog yn cynnwys 72 o sgriniau HD llawn. Dim ond un enghraifft o'r math o ymchwil a wneir yno yw iechyd.
