Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is backing a call to reduce baby loss and support bereaved parents.
Mr Rowlands, is supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week which runs from October 9-15th.
He said:
Baby loss is devastating for families who experience the most awful of tragedies. We really need to do more to prevent this and support bereaved parents through the most challenging times.
It really must be every parent’s nightmare and I am happy to show my support on social media and share why I care about baby loss.
I will back any initiative to raise awareness of this and I am delighted to see a church in North Wales will be lighting up its spire in pink and blue in support of this week.
Baby Loss Awareness Week is held annually from October 9-15 and is a special opportunity to mark the lives of babies lost in pregnancy or at or soon after birth.
During this week, which is now in its 21st year, the Baby Loss Awareness Alliance works alongside more than 100 other charities and groups to raise awareness of key issues that affect people who have lost a baby.
Its aim is to share how the pregnancy and baby loss community is there for people every step of the way, during and after loss and you don’t have to navigate pregnancy loss alone.
There are several ways you can show your support for Baby Loss Awareness Week including wearing a pink and blue ribbon, Illuminate the Wave of Light - on October 15 at 7 pm, light a candle in remembrance of babies who have died too soon, creating a wave of light across the world or attend a local or virtual event.
Also every year iconic landmarks, municipal buildings, hospitals, bridges and stadiums across the UK take part in turning pink and blue for baby loss awareness. In Denbighshire, St Peter’s Church Spire in Ruthin, will be lit up in pink and blue for the week to show support for the charity.

Sam Rowlands AS yn tynnu sylw at Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth Colli Babi
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o Senedd Cymru dros Ogledd Cymru, yn cefnogi galwad i leihau colli babanod a chefnogi rhieni mewn profedigaeth.
Mae Mr Rowlands yn cefnogi Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth Colli Babi, sy’n rhedeg o 9-15 Hydref.
Dywedodd:
Mae colli babi yn llorio’r teuluoedd hynny sy’n profi’r drasiedi fwyaf erchyll. Mae gwir angen i ni wneud mwy i atal hyn a chefnogi rhieni mewn profedigaeth drwy gyfnod mor ofnadwy o heriol.
Mae’n rhaid ei fod yn hunllef i bob rhiant ac rwy’n hapus i ddangos fy nghefnogaeth ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol a rhannu pam fy mod i’n cefnogi’r achos.
Byddaf yn cefnogi unrhyw fenter i hybu ymwybyddiaeth o hyn ac rwy’n falch iawn o weld eglwys yng ngogledd Cymru yn goleuo ei meindwr mewn pinc a glas i gefnogi’r wythnos hon.
Cynhelir Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth Colli Babanod rhwng 9-15 Hydref bob blwyddyn, ac mae’n gyfle arbennig i nodi bywydau babanod a gollwyd yn ystod beichiogrwydd, yn ystod eu geni neu’n fuan ar ôl eu geni.
Yn ystod yr wythnos hon, sydd bellach yn ei 21ain flwyddyn, mae’r elusen Baby Loss Awareness Alliance yn gweithio ochr yn ochr â mwy na 100 o elusennau a grwpiau eraill i hybu ymwybyddiaeth o faterion allweddol sy’n effeithio ar bobl sydd wedi colli babi.
Ei nod yw rhannu sut mae’r gymuned colli babanod yn ystod beichiogrwydd neu wedi’r geni yno ar gyfer pobl bob cam o’r ffordd, yn ystod ac ar ôl y golled, gan sicrhau nad oes yn rhaid i unrhyw un ymdopi ar eu pen eu hunain.
Mae sawl ffordd y gallwch ddangos eich cefnogaeth i Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth Colli Babanod, gan gynnwys gwisgo rhuban pinc a glas, ymuno i danio ton o Olau – ar Hydref 15 am 7pm, cynnau cannwyll er cof am fabanod sydd wedi marw’n rhy fuan, a chreu ton o olau ar draws y byd – neu fynychu digwyddiad lleol neu rithwir.
Bob blwyddyn hefyd, mae tirnodau eiconig, adeiladau trefol, ysbytai, pontydd a stadia ledled y DU yn cymryd rhan wrth droi’n binc a glas i hybu ymwybyddiaeth o golli babi. Yn Sir Ddinbych, bydd meindwr Eglwys Sant Pedr yn Rhuthun yn cael ei oleuo mewn pinc a glas am yr wythnos i ddangos cefnogaeth i’r elusen.
