Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed news that Flintshire County Council has received over £11 million to fund 23 projects in the county.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government said:
I am delighted to see the council receiving £11 million from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund which is a huge part of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and aims to provide £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.
The money will see 23 projects, from across the county, benefiting from this funding, which is great news for the county and our communities.
I was also very pleased to hear that applications for funding was well subscribed with the council receiving over 90 requests.
Although this means some very difficult choices had to be made it is heartening to see the interest in this funding from the UK Government to help projects in North Wales.
The council, along with the other North Wales local authorities, invited applicants to submit project proposals back in February. The fund was heavily over-subscribed with over 90 applications requesting nearly three times the Flintshire allocation.
Following a series of robust appraisal and assessment exercises the final shortlist has been approved and projects given the go-ahead to proceed.
A wide variety of projects will be delivered over the next 14 months which align to the UKSPF main priorities of Communities and Place, Supporting Local Businesses, People and Skills as well as improving adult numeracy through the Multiply programme.
These include projects that will; improve the infrastructure and environment of Flintshire’s town centres, rural communities and coastal destinations; enhance people’s skills, mental health and wellbeing and reduce barriers to employment, education and training; enable business research and investment in areas such as digitalisation, connectivity, innovation, de-carbonisation, and knowledge transfer and support the growth of the tourism sector and enhance tourism facilities and attractions.
The UKPF aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.

Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi croesawu'r newyddion bod Cyngor Sir y Fflint wedi derbyn dros £11 miliwn i ariannu 23 o brosiectau yn y sir.
Dywedodd Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog yr Wrthblaid dros Lywodraeth Leol:
Rwy'n falch iawn o weld y cyngor yn derbyn £11 miliwn gan Gronfa Ffyniant Gyffredin Llywodraeth San Steffan sy'n rhan enfawr o agenda Ffyniant Bro Llywodraeth y DU a'i nod yw darparu £2.6 biliwn o gyllid ar gyfer buddsoddiad lleol erbyn mis Mawrth 2025.
Bydd yr arian yn golygu y bydd 23 o brosiectau, o bob cwr o'r sir, yn elwa ar y cyllid hwn, sy'n newyddion gwych i'r sir a'n cymunedau.
Hefyd, roeddwn i'n falch iawn o glywed bod ceisiadau am gyllid wedi cael ymateb da gyda'r cyngor yn derbyn dros 90 o geisiadau.
Er bod hyn yn golygu bod rhaid gwneud rhai dewisiadau anodd iawn, mae'n galondid gweld y diddordeb yn y cyllid hwn gan Lywodraeth y DU i helpu prosiectau yn y Gogledd.
Fe wnaeth y cyngor, ynghyd ag awdurdodau lleol eraill y Gogledd, wahodd ymgeiswyr i gyflwyno cynigion prosiect 'nôl ym mis Chwefror. Cafodd y gronfa ormod o geisiadau gyda dros 90 o geisiadau yn gofyn bron i deirgwaith dyraniad Sir y Fflint.
Yn dilyn cyfres o ymarferion gwerthuso ac asesu cadarn, mae'r rhestr fer derfynol wedi'i chymeradwyo a rhoddwyd caniatâd i brosiectau fynd rhagddynt.
Bydd amrywiaeth eang o brosiectau yn cael eu cyflawni dros y 14 mis nesaf sy'n cyd-fynd â phrif flaenoriaethau UKSPF sef cymunedau a lleoedd, cefnogi busnesau lleol, pobl a sgiliau yn ogystal â gwella rhifedd oedolion drwy'r rhaglen Multiply.
Mae'r rhain yn cynnwys prosiectau a fydd; yn gwella seilwaith ac amgylchedd canol trefi, cymunedau gwledig a chyrchfannau arfordirol Sir y Fflint; gwella sgiliau, iechyd meddwl a lles pobl a lleihau rhwystrau i gyflogaeth, addysg a hyfforddiant; galluogi ymchwil busnes a buddsoddiad mewn meysydd fel digideiddio, cysylltedd, arloesi, datgarboneiddio, a throsglwyddo gwybodaeth a chefnogi twf y sector ymwelwyr a gwella cyfleusterau ac atyniadau twristiaeth.
Nod UKPF yw gwella balchder bro a chynyddu cyfleoedd bywyd ledled y DU i fuddsoddi mewn cymunedau a lle, gan gefnogi busnesau lleol, a phobl a sgiliau.
