Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is backing a call by Public Health Wales for people to take care if they are feeling unwell.
Mr Rowlands said:
As teachers and pupils return to schools and everyone mixes more, I am happy to support the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Chris Jones, who has sent out a timely reminder.
It is vitally important we all help to stop the spread of respiratory infections and stay at home if we are unwell and avoid contact with others.
Covid has not gone away, and along with infections like Flu and it is worth remembering these viruses can spread quite easily and we all need to take care.
I would also urge any eligible person offered the flu and COVID-19 vaccine to take up the offer and help keep everyone safe and well.
Dr Christopher Johnson, Deputy Director of Health Protection and Head of Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme at Public Health Wales, said:
While Covid-19 may not be at the forefront of everyone’s minds, or may even be something that people would rather forget, it is important to remember that the virus is still with us.
There are simple but important steps that everyone can take to protect themselves, their loved ones, and the NHS, especially as we see increased social mixing as schools return, and an increase in numbers.
If you feel unwell, stay home and avoid contact with others, as you would to avoid spreading any other respiratory infection, like flu.
When you cough or sneeze, do so into a handkerchief, and wash your hands frequently to avoid passing on germs. Special care should be taken around vulnerable or elderly people, so avoid contact with these if you are ill.
Respiratory infections, like flu and COVID-19, can spread easily between people, with symptoms ranging from a continuous cough, fever or chills, muscle aches or pains that are not due to exercise, a sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, diarrhoea and sickness.
The autumn vaccination programme for Wales starts on September 11. Vaccinations are to be rolled out to over 65s, at risk groups and those working or living with vulnerable people for flu and COVID-19.
Sam Rowlands AS yn annog etholwyr i helpu i atal heintiau anadlol rhag lledaenu
Mae Sam Rowlands, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, yn cefnogi galwad gan Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru i bobl gymryd gofal os ydyn nhw'n teimlo'n sâl.
Meddai Mr Rowlands:
Wrth i athrawon a disgyblion ddychwelyd i'r ysgol ac wrth i bawb cymysgu mwy, rwy'n hapus i gefnogi'r Dirprwy Brif Swyddog Meddygol, Chris Jones, sydd wedi anfon nodyn atgoffa amserol.
Mae'n hanfodol bwysig ein bod ni i gyd yn helpu i atal heintiau anadlol rhag lledaenu ac aros gartref os ydyn ni'n sâl ac osgoi cyswllt ag eraill.
Dyw Covid ddim wedi diflannu, ynghyd â heintiau fel y ffliw ac mae'n werth cofio bod y feirysau yma yn gallu lledaenu'n eithaf hawdd ac mae angen i ni gyd gymryd gofal.
Byddwn hefyd yn annog unrhyw berson cymwys sy'n cael cynnig y brechlyn ffliw a COVID-19 i fanteisio ar y cynnig a helpu i gadw pawb yn ddiogel ac yn iach.
Dywedodd Dr Christopher Johnson, Dirprwy Gyfarwyddwr Diogelu Iechyd a Phennaeth y Rhaglen Afiechydon Ataliadwy Trwy Frechu yn Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru:
Er nad yw Covid-19 yn flaenllaw ym meddyliau pawb, neu efallai hyd yn oed yn rhywbeth y byddai'n well gan bobl ei anghofio, mae'n bwysig cofio bod y feirws yma o hyd.
Mae camau syml ond pwysig y gall pawb eu cymryd i amddiffyn eu hunain, eu hanwyliaid, a'r GIG, yn enwedig wrth i ni weld mwy o gymysgu cymdeithasol wrth i’r ysgolion ddychwelyd, a chynnydd yn y niferoedd.
Os ydych chi'n teimlo'n sâl, arhoswch adref gan osgoi cyswllt ag eraill, fel y byddech chi er mwyn osgoi lledaenu unrhyw haint anadlol arall, fel y ffliw.
Pan fyddwch chi'n pesychu neu'n tisian, gwnewch hynny i mewn i hances, a golchwch eich dwylo'n aml er mwyn osgoi trosglwyddo germau. Dylid cymryd gofal arbennig o gwmpas pobl fregus neu oedrannus, felly ceisiwch osgoi cyswllt â'r rhain os ydych chi'n sâl.
Gall heintiau anadlol, fel y ffliw a COVID-19, ledaenu'n hawdd rhwng pobl, gyda symptomau'n amrywio o beswch parhaus, twymyn neu oerfel, poenau cyhyrau neu boenau nad ydyn nhw o ganlyniad i ymarfer corff, dolur gwddf, trwyn llawn neu sy'n rhedeg, dolur rhydd a salwch.
Mae rhaglen frechu'r hydref i Gymru yn dechrau ar 11 Medi. Bydd brechiadau'n cael eu cyflwyno i bobl dros 65 oed, i’r rhai yn y grwpiau risg a'r rhai sy'n gweithio neu'n byw gyda phobl agored i niwed gyda’r ffliw a COVID-19.
