Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is calling for fairer funding to support care homes and their residents.
Mr Rowlands was commenting after he visited Hollybank Care Home in Wrexham.
He said:
I was delighted to be invited to the family run home to meet the hard-working team and residents and learn more about the care sector and the challenges they face every day.
Privately run care homes play an extremely important role in providing social care and I was concerned to hear how local government funding for residential home placements is clearly not enough, there is a real need for local councillors to get to grips with these problems.
There are real fears for the future of small, independently run homes and it is very worrying and something I have often raised in Welsh Parliament and will continue to do so in my capacity as Shadow Minister for Local Government.
Hollybank is a small residential home situated on the outskirts of Wrexham Town Centre and is located in a residential area and is very much part of the community.
The home is registered with Care Inspectorate Wales for 20 residents and provides care for the physical, emotional and psychological needs of the elderly with mental health problems.
Being situated within the town and close to all the amenities Wrexham has to offer, it has Erddig Stately Home and Gardens on the doorstep and Acton Park a short drive away. Both places residents are regularly able to visit and take advantage of such beautiful surroundings.
Sam Rowlands AS yn ymweld â chartref gofal Hollybank, Wrecsam
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, yn galw am arian tecach i gefnogi cartrefi gofal a'u preswylwyr.
Fe wnaeth Mr Rowlands y sylw ar ôl ymweld â chartref gofal Hollybank yn Wrecsam.
Meddai:
Roedd hi'n bleser cael gwahoddiad gan y cartref gofal teuluol i gyfarfod y criw o weithwyr caled a'r trigolion, er mwyn dysgu mwy am y sector gofal a'r heriau sy'n eu hwynebu bob dydd.
Mae cartrefi gofal preifat yn gwneud cyfraniad pwysig iawn wrth ddarparu gofal cymdeithasol ac roeddwn i'n bryderus o glywed nad oes digon o gyllid llywodraeth leol ar gyfer lleoliadau cartrefi preswyl, a bod angen gwirioneddol i gynghorwyr fynd i'r afael â'r problemau hyn.
Mae yna ofnau gwirioneddol am ddyfodol cartrefi bach, annibynnol, mae'n fater pryderus ac yn rhywbeth dwi wedi'i godi'n aml yn y Senedd - a byddaf yn parhau i wneud hynny yn rhinwedd fy swydd fel Gweinidog yr Wrthblaid dros Lywodraeth Leol.
Mae cartref preswyl bach Hollybank ar gyrion canol dinas Wrecsam ac wedi'i leoli mewn ardal breswyl ac felly'n rhan fawr iawn o'r gymuned.
Mae'r cartref wedi'i gofrestru gydag Arolygiaeth Gofal Cymru ar gyfer 20 o breswylwyr ac mae'n darparu gofal ar gyfer anghenion corfforol, emosiynol a seicolegol yr henoed sydd â phroblemau iechyd meddwl.
Gan ei fod wedi'i leoli yn y dref ac yn agos at yr holl gyfleusterau sydd gan Wrecsam i'w cynnig, mae Plas a Gerddi Erddig ar garreg y drws a Pharc Acton yn y cyffiniau hefyd. Mae'r preswylwyr yn gallu ymweld â'r ddau le hyn yn rheolaidd a manteisio ar amgylchedd mor brydferth.
