Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, says the new disastrous rollout of 20mph is hitting residents who use buses to get around.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government and harsh critic of the Welsh Labour Government’s ludicrous policy has been told that the new, 20mph speed limit is behind bus stands in Conwy not having printed timetables.
He said:
Many bus users in Conwy are frustrated that local bus stands don’t include timetables, which is a simple and reasonable ask of Conwy County Borough Council.
Bus companies struggled to operate their timetabled services during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is surprising that it has been eighteen months since public health restrictions came to an end and the Council still hasn’t managed to provide paper timetables at bus stands.
I have received a number of complaints about this and after it was announced they were going to be put up in June of this year, then August, I have now been told that because of the introduction of the crazy 20mph speed limit this has once again been postponed indefinitely whilst bus companies work out how to operate their services with the new speed limit.
So yet again we find that this ridiculous legislation is having a huge knock-on effect for the long suffering public. We are also hearing that bus services are seriously struggling and several routes are under threat. It is a complete and utter mess.
It really is about time the whole idea was scrapped. It has been just over a month since implementation. It has been a clear disaster and people have had enough. It is time Welsh Government made a u-turn.
Sam Rowlands AS yn rhybuddio bod y terfyn cyflymder 20mya cyffredinol yn parhau i achosi anhrefn yng Ngogledd Cymru
Yn ôl Sam Rowlands, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, mae'r broses drychinebus newydd o gyflwyno 20mya yn cael effaith wael ar drigolion sy'n defnyddio bysiau i deithio o gwmpas.
Mae Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Llywodraeth Leol yr Wrthblaid a beirniad llym o bolisi chwerthinllyd Llywodraeth Lafur Cymru wedi cael gwybod mai’r terfyn cyflymder 20mya newydd yw’r rheswm nad oes amserlenni wedi’u hargraffu mewn safleoedd bysiau yng Nghonwy.
Meddai:
Mae llawer o ddefnyddwyr bysiau yng Nghonwy yn rhwystredig nad yw safleoedd bysiau lleol yn cynnwys amserlenni, sy'n ofyniad syml a rhesymol i Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy.
Roedd cwmnïau bysiau yn cael trafferth gweithredu eu gwasanaethau wedi'u hamserlennu yn ystod pandemig COVID-19, ond mae'n syndod ei bod wedi bod yn ddeunaw mis ers i gyfyngiadau iechyd cyhoeddus ddod i ben ac nad yw'r Cyngor wedi llwyddo i ddarparu amserlenni papur mewn safleoedd bysiau.
Rwyf wedi derbyn nifer o gwynion am hyn ac ar ôl iddo gael ei gyhoeddi eu bod yn mynd i gael eu gosod ym mis Mehefin eleni, yna mis Awst, rwyf bellach wedi cael gwybod, oherwydd cyflwyno'r terfyn cyflymder gwallgof o 20mya, fod hyn wedi'i ohirio am gyfnod amhenodol wrth i gwmnïau bysiau feddwl sut i weithredu eu gwasanaethau gyda'r terfyn cyflymder newydd.
Unwaith eto, gwelwn fod y ddeddfwriaeth hurt hon yn cael effaith enfawr ar y cyhoedd sydd wedi blino ar ddioddef. Rydyn ni hefyd yn clywed bod gwasanaethau bws yn cael trafferthion difrifol ac mae sawl gwasanaeth dan fygythiad. Mae'r holl beth yn llanast llwyr.
Mae'n hen bryd i'r syniad cyfan gael ei ddileu. Mae wedi bod ychydig dros fis ers ei weithredu. Mae wedi bod yn drychineb amlwg ac mae pobl wedi cael digon. Mae'n bryd i Lywodraeth Cymru wneud tro pedol.
