Sam Rowlands MS is demanding urgent action to improve vascular services in his region.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government, has called on the First Minister, Mark Drakeford to hold a public inquiry as soon as possible.
Speaking in plenary he said:
The vascular services have seen significant change in North Wales. A report by the Royal College of Surgeons has highlighted significant bed shortages and confusion over staffing levels, and they have also outlined a safety risk to patients as well.
First Minister, as you asserted, if there is nothing wrong with the model there at the moment, would you not accept that a public inquiry would be a good step to restoring that much-needed public faith in this service?
Mr Drakeford said he did not believe a public inquiry with the length of time it would take would be of much benefit to patients in North Wales.
Mr Rowlands added:
I am extremely disappointed with the continual lack of action from the Welsh Government when it comes to health matters in North Wales.
This report once again highlights the many problems still surrounding some services in my region and my constituents deserve so much better.
I recently met with members of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to discuss this and other issues and was pleased to hear they are taking the matter very seriously. They appreciate there is a great need to restore public faith in vascular services.
Sam Rowlands AS yn galw am ymchwiliad cyhoeddus i wasanaethau fasgiwlar yng Ngogledd Cymru
Mae Sam Rowlands AS yn mynnu camau gweithredu ar frys i wella gwasanaethau fasgiwlar yn ei ranbarth.
Mae Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog yr Wrthblaid dros Lywodraeth Leol, wedi galw ar Mark Drakeford, y Prif Weinidog, i gynnal ymchwiliad cyhoeddus cyn gynted â phosib.
Wrth siarad yn y Cyfarfod Llawn, dywedodd:
Mae’r gwasanaethau fasgiwlar wedi gweld newid sylweddol yn y gogledd. Mae adroddiad gan Goleg Brenhinol y Llawfeddygon wedi tynnu sylw at brinder gwelyau sylweddol a dryswch ynghylch lefelau staffio, ac maen nhw hefyd wedi amlinellu risg diogelwch i gleifion.
Prif Weinidog, fel y gwnaethoch chi ei ddweud, os nad oes dim o'i le ar y model sydd yno ar hyn o bryd, oni fyddech chi'n derbyn y byddai ymchwiliad cyhoeddus yn gam da tuag at adfer ffydd y cyhoedd y mae mawr ei hangen yn y gwasanaeth hwn?
Dywedodd Mr Drakeford nad oedd yn credu y byddai ymchwiliad cyhoeddus, gyda'r amser y byddai'n ei gymryd, o fudd mawr i gleifion yn y gogledd.
Ychwanegodd Mr Rowlands:
Rwyf yn arbennig o siomedig â'r diffyg gweithredu parhaus gan Lywodraeth Cymru o ran materion iechyd yng Ngogledd Cymru.
Mae'r adroddiad hwn unwaith eto'n tynnu sylw at lawer o’r problemau sy’n parhau i fod yn gysylltiedig â rhai gwasanaethau yn fy ardal ac mae fy etholwyr yn haeddu llawer gwell.
Cefais gyfarfod yn ddiweddar ag aelodau Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr i drafod hyn a materion eraill ac roeddwn yn falch o glywed eu bod yn cymryd y mater o ddifrif. Maen nhw'n gwerthfawrogi bod mawr angen adfer ffydd y cyhoedd mewn gwasanaethau fasgiwlar.
