Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has called on residents to have their say on plans to continue enforcing dog control in Flintshire.
Flintshire County Council are holding a consultation on extending a Dog Control Public Space Protection Order for a further three years in the county.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government, a dog lover and owner said:
As a keen dog walker I believe that all dog owners have a responsibility to keep control of their pets at all times and to clear up after themselves.
We must remember that not everybody feels the same way about dogs and many are nervous around animals so it is important to make them feel safe as well.
I would urge anyone wanting to take part in the consultation to make sure they have their say before the closing date of Friday July 14.
Flintshire County Council are to consult on extending the current Dog Control PSPO as required to by the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
The current prohibitions, which the council propose be extended for another three years, include requiring dog owners to: remove their dog’s waste immediately from the ground at all public locations and put their dog on a lead when directed to do so by an authorised officer.
Dogs would also be excluded from entering: enclosed children's play areas; the playing areas of marked sports pitches the playing area of specific sporting or recreational facilities and school grounds.
As a result of reports of dogs not being properly controlled at the footpath around The Rosie, Wepre Park, Connahs Quay and Mold Memorial Gardens, Maes Bodlonfa, Mold. the Council are also consulting on either banning dogs or requiring dogs to be kept on a lead at all times at these sites.
Any breaches of the above would result in the issuing of a Fixed Penalty Notice to the person responsible for the dog.
The consultation runs until Friday July 14. For more information, including a list of potential sites where the prohibitions would be enforced, can be found on the council’s website www.flintshire.gov.uk/en/Resident/Streetscene/New-Measures-for-Dog-Control.aspx

Sam Rowlands AS yn dweud y dylai etholwyr rannu eu barn ar gyfyngiadau cŵn
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi galw ar drigolion i ddweud eu dweud ar gynlluniau i barhau i orfodi rheoli cŵn yn Sir y Fflint.
Mae Cyngor Sir y Fflint yn cynnal ymgynghoriad ar ymestyn Gorchymyn Gwarchod Mannau Agored Cyhoeddus Rheoli Cŵn am dair blynedd arall yn y sir.
Dywedodd Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Lywodraeth Leol yr Wrthblaid, sy'n caru cŵn ac yn berchen ar un:
Fel cerddwr ci brwd, rwy'n credu bod cyfrifoldeb ar bob perchennog ci i gadw rheolaeth ar eu hanifeiliaid anwes bob amser a chlirio ar eu hôl.
Rhaid cofio nad yw pawb yn teimlo'r un ffordd am gŵn ac mae llawer yn nerfus o amgylch anifeiliaid felly mae'n bwysig gwneud iddyn nhw deimlo'n ddiogel hefyd.
Byddwn yn annog unrhyw un sydd am gymryd rhan yn yr ymgynghoriad i sicrhau eu bod yn cael dweud eu dweud cyn y dyddiad cau sef dydd Gwener 14 Gorffennaf.
Bydd Cyngor Sir y Fflint yn ymgynghori ar ymestyn y Gorchymyn Diogelu Mannau Agored Cyhoeddus Rheoli Cŵn presennol fel sy'n ofynnol gan Ddeddf Ymddygiad Gwrthgymdeithasol, Troseddu a Phlismona 2014.
Mae'r gwaharddiadau presennol, y mae'r cyngor yn cynnig eu hymestyn am dair blynedd arall, yn cynnwys ei gwneud hi’n ofynnol i berchnogion cŵn: gael gwared ar wastraff eu cŵn yn syth o'r ddaear ym mhob lleoliad cyhoeddus a rhoi eu ci ar dennyn pan fydd swyddog awdurdodedig yn rhoi cyfarwyddyd i wneud hynny.
Byddai cŵn hefyd yn cael eu heithrio rhag mynd i mewn i: ardaloedd chwarae amgaeedig i blant; ardaloedd chwarae caeau chwaraeon wedi'u marcio yn ardal chwarae cyfleusterau chwaraeon neu hamdden penodol a thiroedd ysgolion.
O ganlyniad i adroddiadau nad yw cŵn yn cael eu rheoli'n briodol ar y llwybr troed o amgylch The Rosie, Parc Wepre, Cei Connah a Gerddi Coffa’r Wyddgrug, Maes Bodlonfa, yr Wyddgrug, mae'r Cyngor hefyd yn ymgynghori ar naill ai wahardd cŵn neu ei gwneud hi’n ofynnol cadw cŵn ar dennyn bob amser ar y safleoedd hyn.
Byddai unrhyw achosion o dorri'r uchod yn arwain at gyflwyno Hysbysiad Cosb Benodedig i'r sawl sy'n gyfrifol am y ci.
Mae'r ymgynghoriad ar agor hyd ddydd Gwener 14 Gorffennaf. Am ragor o wybodaeth, gan gynnwys rhestr o safleoedd posibl lle byddai'r gwaharddiadau'n cael eu gorfodi, ewch i wefan y cyngor https://www.siryfflint.gov.uk/cy/Resident/Streetscene/New-Measures-for-…
