Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales is calling on his constituents to support a national campaign to eat more lamb, which runs from 1st - 7th September.
He said:
There is nothing better than enjoying Welsh lamb for Sunday dinner and I am delighted to back this industry-wide initiative. There are some delicious recipes out there for this tasty and nutritious meat so I urge everyone to be adventurous and give them a try.
It is a well- known fact that Welsh lamb is regarded as the best in the world and is exported all over the world.
I am a great supporter of Welsh farmers and the quality of the food they produce and this week gives the industry the opportunity to highlight this delicious meat and encourage more people to buy lamb.
Love Lamb Week, Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board’s, AHDB, lamb marketing campaign, returns for another industry celebration of British lamb.
The campaign aims to highlight the sustainable qualities lamb brings to the dinner table, emphasising lamb’s delicious flavour, environmental credentials and demonstrating how lamb can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet.
Now in its seventh year, Love Lamb Week has grown to become an industry-wide initiative which the NFU has supported along with the National Sheep Association, NSA, AHDB, Red Tractor, the Ulster Farmers’ Union and meat promotion bodies, HCC in Wales, LMC in Northern Ireland and Quality Meat Scotland.
Love Lamb Week started back in 2015 to promote and highlight the passion and dedication farmers give day after day to ensure we have the tastiest lamb on our plates. Over the years it has highlighted different aspects of sheep farming, and the sustainable qualities this meat brings to the dinner table.
Sam Rowlands AS yn cefnogi Wythnos Genedlaethol Caru Cig Oen
Mae Sam Rowlands AS dros y Gogledd yn galw ar ei etholwyr i gefnogi ymgyrch genedlaethol i fwyta mwy o gig oen, sy’n cael ei chynnal rhwng 1-7 Medi.
Meddai:
Does dim byd gwell na mwynhau cinio Sul o gig oen Cymru ac rwy’n falch o gefnogi’r fenter hon gan y diwydiant cyfan. Mae yna ryseitiau bendigedig ar gyfer y cig blasus a maethlon hwn felly rwy’n annog pawb i fod yn fentrus a rhoi cynnig arnyn nhw.
Mae’n ffaith gydnabyddedig fod cig oen Cymru’n cael ei ystyried fel y gorau yn y byd ac yn cael ei allforio ledled y byd.
Rwy’n cefnogi ffermwyr Cymru i’r carn ac ansawdd y bwyd maen nhw’n ei gynhyrchu ac mae’r wythnos hon yn rhoi’r cyfle i’r diwydiant dynnu sylw at y cig blasus hwn ac annog mwy o bobl i brynu cig oen.
Mae Wythnos Caru Cig Oen, ymgyrch farchnata cig oen y Bwrdd Datblygu Amaethyddiaeth a Garddwriaeth (AHDB), yn dychwelyd am ddathliad arall o gig oen Prydain gan y diwydiant.
Nod yr ymgyrch yw tynnu sylw at y nodweddion cynaliadwy sydd gan gig oen, gan bwysleisio blas hyfryd y cig, rhagoriaethau amgylcheddol a dangos sut y gellir mwynhau cig oen fel rhan o ddeiet cytbwys.
Mae Wythnos Caru Cig Oen yn ei seithfed flwyddyn erbyn hyn ac wedi tyfu i fod yn fenter i’r diwydiant cyfan sy’n derbyn cefnogaeth gan yr NFU, y Gymdeithas Ddefaid Genedlaethol, NSA, AHDB, Tractor Coch, Undeb Ffermwyr Ulster a chyrff hybu cig, Hybu Cig Cymru yng Nghymru, LMC yng Ngogledd Iwerddon a Quality Meat Scotland.
Dechreuodd Wythnos Caru Cig Oen yn 2015 i hyrwyddo a thynnu sylw at frwdfrydedd ac ymroddiad ffermwyr o ddydd i ddydd i sicrhau bod y cig oen mwyaf blasus yn cyrraedd ein platiau. Dros y blynyddoedd mae wedi tynnu sylw at wahanol agweddau ar ffermio defaid, a’r nodweddion cynaliadwy sydd gan y cig hwn.
