Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, wants to see additional funding secured for a children’s hospice in North Wales.
Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of Tŷ Gobaith, in the Conwy Valley, supported a successful campaign which saw Welsh Government significantly increase their financial support.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government said:
I was delighted to be a part of a successful campaign to improve financial funding for Tŷ Gobaith and back any moves to make sure this extra cash is secured for the future.
Since becoming a Member of the Welsh Parliament, one of the first things I did was meet with and visit Tŷ Gobaith in my region, North Wales, where they carry out exceptional work in supporting young patients and their loved ones.
Being able to see at first hand all the hard work which goes into running such a facility was truly humbling and I was so impressed with what I saw.
One of the huge concerns raised during my first visit was lack of funding from Government, and, therefore, I was really pleased that cross-party support in relation to this lack of funding led to Government announcing a reform of hospice funding.
I welcomed this long-awaited funding, which is a good start, to acknowledge the importance of this work and make a real difference to the support that hospices can provide to people.
I understand the increased funding will cost the Welsh Government around £1 million which is a tiny amount compared to the Welsh Government’s total health and social care budgets which are in excess of billions of pounds and I will continue to campaign to make sure this is protected.
Sam Rowlands AS yn cefnogi galwadau i ddiogelu rhagor o gyllid ar gyfer hosbis plant yn y Gogledd
Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros y Gogledd, am weld cyllid ychwanegol yn cael ei sicrhau ar gyfer hosbis i blant yng Ngogledd Cymru.
Cefnogodd Mr Rowlands, sy’n gefnogwr brwd i Dŷ Gobaith yn Nyffryn Conwy, ymgyrch lwyddiannus a ddarbwyllodd Lywodraeth Cymru i gynyddu eu cefnogaeth ariannol yn sylweddol.
Meddai Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Llywodraeth Leol yr Wrthblaid:
Roeddwn i’n falch iawn o fod yn rhan o ymgyrch lwyddiannus i wella’r cyllid ar gyfer Tŷ Gobaith ac i gefnogi unrhyw gamau i sicrhau bod yr arian ychwanegol hwn yn cael ei sicrhau ar gyfer y dyfodol.
Ers dod yn Aelod o’r Senedd, un o'r pethau cyntaf wnes i oedd ymweld â Thŷ Gobaith yn fy rhanbarth yn y Gogledd, lle maen nhw'n gwneud gwaith eithriadol yn cynorthwyo cleifion ifanc a'u hanwyliaid.
Roedd gallu gweld drosof fy hun yr holl waith caled sy'n cael ei wneud i redeg cyfleuster o'r fath yn fraint wirioneddol a gwnaeth yr hyn a welais argraff fawr arnaf.
Un o'r pryderon enfawr a godwyd yn ystod fy ymweliad cyntaf oedd diffyg cyllid gan y Llywodraeth, ac felly, roeddwn i’n falch iawn bod cefnogaeth drawsbleidiol mewn perthynas â'r diffyg cyllid hwn wedi arwain at gyhoeddiad gan y Llywodraeth eu bod yn diwygio’r cyllid ar gyfer hosbisau.
Rhoddais groeso i’r cyllid hir-ddisgwyliedig hwn, sy'n ddechrau da, i gydnabod pwysigrwydd y gwaith hwn a gwneud gwahaniaeth gwirioneddol i'r gefnogaeth y gall hosbisau ei chynnig i bobl.
Rwy'n deall y bydd y cyllid ychwanegol yn costio tua £1 miliwn i Lywodraeth Cymru, sy'n swm bach iawn o'i gymharu â chyllidebau iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol Llywodraeth Cymru sy'n fwy na biliynau o bunnoedd, a byddaf yn parhau i ymgyrchu i sicrhau bod hyn yn cael ei ddiogelu.
