Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is urging businesses looking to upgrade their properties to apply for a grant from Denbighshire County Council.
The Council has launched a new grant scheme funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, part of their programme for Levelling Up. The scheme is for businesses based in town centres across the county to enhance the exterior of their commercial properties.
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government and a keen supporter of the UK Government’s Levelling Up programme said:
I am delighted to see this initiative being offered in Denbighshire thanks to a £290,000 grant from the UK Government through the Levelling Up programme.
It is vital for the future of our high streets that businesses are given support to help them tidy up their premises and take pride in their surroundings so that more people will be encouraged to shop local.
I am a great supporter of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as its main focus is to encourage communities to take back control of their money and spend it on their priorities. Here in North Wales we have already seen the benefits of the UKSPF and it is great to see this continue.
The Denbighshire Commercial Property Development Grant has received £290,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and forms part of the council’s wider Town Centre Property Improvement Scheme.
The new grant scheme will help commercial property owners and occupiers based in town centres across Denbighshire to be able to fund improvements to the appearance and viability of their buildings.
Funding for up to 70% of a project to enhance the exterior of a commercial property is available through this scheme, with £50,000 being the maximum amount that can be applied for. Applicants are expected to be able to fund the remaining cost of the project themselves.

Mae'r Cyngor wedi lansio cynllun grant newydd wedi'i ariannu gan Gronfa Ffyniant Gyffredin Llywodraeth y DU, sy'n rhan o'u rhaglen Ffyniant Bro. Mae'r cynllun ar gyfer busnesau yng nghanol trefi ledled y sir i wella tu allan i'w heiddo masnachol.

Rwy'n gefnogwr brwd o Gronfa Ffyniant Gyffredin y DU gan mai ei phrif nod yw annog cymunedau i gymryd rheolaeth o'u harian a'i wario ar eu blaenoriaethau nhw. Mae manteision UKSPF eisoes i'w gweld yma yn y Gogledd, ac mae'n braf gweld hyn yn parhau.
