Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is delighted to hear a North Wales council has been selected to work with a national organisation to help town centre businesses.
Mr Rowlands welcomed the initiative, which follows Flintshire County Council being awarded more than £1 million worth of Shared Prosperity Funding. The Shared Prosperity Fund is a key part of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda.
He said:
I am delighted to hear that Flintshire has been chosen as the first council in Wales to have the opportunity of working with a national organisation, SaveTheHighstreet.org.
This follows Flintshire County Council’s regeneration team being awarded more than £1 million from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund to help and support local businesses in town centres.
It is great to see that businesses in seven town centres across the county will have the opportunity to receive this valuable support which ultimately will help to improve our high streets.
I would urge any business if the designated towns to find out more about the project and how they can be involved at a meeting next week.
The new scheme comes after the Council’s regeneration team were awarded more than £1 million from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
Earlier this year the team went out to tender to find a partner to deliver one-on-one support to businesses, and the contract was awarded to SaveTheHighstreet.org – a movement launched in 2016 with an exciting new vision for the high street.
The pilot will run until April and will look to advise 15 businesses across seven towns – Mold, Buckley, Flint, Holywell, Connah’s Quay, Shotton and Queensferry.
Alex Schlagman, founding partner of SaveTheHighStreet.org, said: “We are excited by this opportunity to positively impact local businesses and high streets across Flintshire over the coming months.
“Building on our experience delivering dozens of successful support programmes in other parts of the UK, the whole team here is proud to be launching our first council-led partnership in Wales with Flintshire County Council.”

Croesawodd Mr Rowlands y fenter, sy'n dilyn y newyddion bod Cyngor Sir y Fflint wedi derbyn gwerth mwy na £1 miliwn o gyllid gan y Gronfa Ffyniant Gyffredin. Mae'r Gronfa Ffyniant Gyffredin yn rhan allweddol o agenda Cronfa Ffyniant Bro Llywodraeth y DU.
Meddai:

Bydd y cynllun peilot yn para tan fis Ebrill gyda'r nod o gynghori 15 o fusnesau mewn saith tref - Yr Wyddgrug, Bwcle, Y Fflint, Treffynnon, Cei Connah, Shotton a Queensferry.
Meddai Alex Schlagman, un o sefydlwyr SaveTheHighStreet.org: “Rydym yn teimlo'n llawn cyffro yn sgil y cyfle hwn i gael effaith gadarnhaol ar fusnesau lleol a'r stryd fawr ledled Sir y Fflint dros y misoedd nesaf.
“Byddwn yn manteisio ar ein profiad o ddarparu dwsinau o raglenni cymorth llwyddiannus mewn rhannau eraill o'r DU, ac mae'r tîm cyfan wrth ei fodd yn lansio ein partneriaeth gyntaf dan arweiniad cyngor yng Nghymru gyda Chyngor Sir y Fflint.”
